previews.teamxbox.com/xbox-360/1467/BioShock/p1/After checking out so many new games on a regular basis, I always think that no game can surprise me other than for its visuals or a feature tied to a new technology. I found out with BioShock that I was so wrong.
The goal of the demo was to hunt a Big Daddy because your character wants to get to one of these Little Sisters, who holds a genetic material known as the Adam.
This guy is gonna be tough.
Although the game has six different modifiable weapons with different ammo types, and more than 50 genetic powers at your disposal, Irrational conducted this demo with only two weapons (a shotgun and a pistol) and one genetic power to show how electrifying the experience of hunting a Big Daddy is.
Once again, the action takes place inside the Rapture city, a sort of a dystopian retro-futuristic metropolis submerged under the sea.
The first enemy we encountered was a Splicer: a nurse that has the ability to alter her genetic structure as well as shoot fireballs and tele transport.
Taking down her was easy, but soon we realized that was on purpose. As soon as the Splicer died, a Little Sister came in to grab the Adam this fallen down nurse had… but you know that with a Little Sister always comes a Big Daddy…

The A.I. put behind these huge bosses could be was easy to recognize in these demos, as the Big Daddy did everything he could to step in between us and the Little Sister. The Big Daddies won’t attack you if you don’t attack them, but as soon as your approach a Little Sister, they will start pulling off different moves to protect her, and if necessary, attack you.
It was clear that you can’t take down a Big Daddy with a pistol or a shotgun, so the person that was running the demo tried another tactic; a very weird and twisted one I’d say...
Suddenly, you see yourself cutting your body to get an infected flesh out of you that has the power to irritate Splicers to the point that they will attack anything splattered with that substance.
So it was a matter of throwing this substance to the Big Daddy and a Splicer will go straight to attack him. While Big Daddy was fighting the Splicer, it seemed that we’d be able to reach that little girl but we were caught by a security camera. All the sudden, the room was filled with flying drones.
The character has to run out quickly to avoid being attacked and hide in a security console where he waited for the bots to arrive. Using some Adam, the robots were turned off and then hacked to take new instructions: attack Big Daddy!
Now, Big Daddy is confronting a Splicer and the flying bots.
...
One thing that I can tell you is that no words can describe the visuals and physics that appeared on the screen during the aforementioned sequences. All of a sudden, Half-Life 2 looked like a very old, outdated game.

Storyline & General Game Background: www.msxbox-world.com/xbox360/previews/preview/48/Bioshock.htmlThe game is being developed by Irrational Games, who were acquired by 2K games and who will be publishing Bioshock. The developers are trying to make this a different First Person Shooter game, in fact the developers claim they are trying to 'redefine what it means to be a first person shooter' so don't expect the linear level design, non-interactive environments or the point and shoot AI which is seen all to often in video games. It was originally going to use the Unreal 2.5 engine, however it is yet another game which has turned to the Unreal 3 engine, which is proving quite popular amongst a lot of highly anticipated games on the Xbox 360.
Bioshock will be Irrational Games first title for the Xbox 360, but most will have heard of some of their previous projects such as Freedom Force, SWAT 4 and System Shock 2.
System Shock 2 is a first person shooter, but it was very different when compared to the other first person shooters available when the game was released in 1999. It had more depth and interactive elements to the gameplay and wasn't all about running and gunning. Bioshock is also being designed with interactivity and player choice in mind.
The game is based in an underwater city called Rapture and takes place during the 1960's. The city looks breathtaking when it is first shown, with its high rise 'Art Deco' architecture right on the sea bed, surrounded by water, almost a modern Atlantis.
it was created by a group of people who wanted to get away from the surface world, which at the time Rapture was founded, was just recovering from the effects of World War 2. By creating their own city, free from government regulations and religion, they would be able to conduct wild and crazy experiments which perhaps some people might see as a waste of time or unethical. This is the reason the city is full of intelligent people such as scientists and engineers
when a scientist discovers an almost magical material which can enhance the human body and repair or modify existing cells. The substance was called 'Adam' and throughout the game the player and the citizens of Rapture, Adam is key to survival. The material has brought Rapture down after it caused a civil war and the people were greedy so there is a grave shortage, in fact the slug which Adam was originally extracted from has been extinct, so there is a very interesting and surprising way to gather it. Characters called 'Little Sisters' or nicknamed 'Gatherers' are genetically modified children who will retrieve Adam from dead bodies and somehow recycle it in their bodies so it can be used again.
but here we have an example of the choice factors which the developers have put in place in the game, or 'emergent gameplay' as it has been referred to by the developers. This is relevant here because the player can either follow the Little Sisters to more sources of Adam, or can take the Adam by force, by attacking the Little Sisters. . As you might expect, these two choices have benefits and disadvantages, for example choosing the latter will mean you will have to answer to the genetically modified Big Daddies who are there to protect the Little Sisters as they collect the precious Adam. It's not just physical gameplay choices though, the player will also face constant moral choices throughout the game. V

xbox360.ign.com/articles/757/757255p1.htmlNo Multiplayer for Bioshock As BioShock creeps ever closer to release, BioShock's community site, The Cult of Rapture, has posted a Q and A covering some burning issues. Of these, we can finally confirm that Bioshock does not feature any kind of multiplayer component, nor is a demo planned.
According to the site, "There will be no multiplayer (hold on before you complain!!!!) but for a very specific reason. BioShock features a compelling storyline that revolves around the experiences of one man as he enters the decaying world of Rapture. Having a multiplayer component would have compromised the story we were trying to tell so we made the decision to keep this game as a single player experience. There will be an online component, however, where new content can be downloaded."
The move to keep the focus on a tight single-player experience is an amiable one, we think. Why dilute what is shaping up to be a fantastic shooter by tacking on an unnecessary multiplayer component?
On the issue of a demo: "No playable demo is planned at this time, as the team is focused on the actual game. Things could change, however."
So, it's not quite a definite no, but we wouldn't advise you to hold your breath, folks. Look out for a BioShock hands-on in the near future.

news.teamxbox.com/xbox/12899/BioShock-Dated/Bioshock DatedThe Cult of Rapture contest web site has revealed that BioShock's street date is August 21st. BioShock is a unique game that mixes a spine-chilling setting illustrated with art deco art and architecture, sci-fi themes of bio-genetic mutation and self-modification, a deep storyline with open-choice freedom to interact with the world as you choose, and first-person action that requires you to think every time you pull the trigger.
After your plane crashes into icy uncharted waters, you discover a rusted bathysphere and descend into Rapture, a city hidden beneath the sea. Constructed as an idealistic society for a hand picked group of scientists, artists and industrialists, the idealism is no more. Now the city is littered with corpses, wildly powerful guardians roam the corridors as little girls loot the dead, and genetically mutated citizens ambush you at every turn. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2K is running a BioShock contest called The Cult of Rapture, where the object is to best solve a problem depicted in a gameplay scenario from BioShock. The first problem has been released and along with it five new screens of the game.click here for the new screenshots of bioshock

This is a sick game IMO ! I seriously think the makers should change the gameplay - i read in an article that you need to kill little girls to take out some "adam" from them....disgusting !

GTA games were not sick, atleast to me, as the humans/character models were so badly done, most of the times they dont look like ppl ;D !
