Japan official release date: May 28 Expected US release date: May 8 (according to a mod at forzacentral.com - the site the developers refer to as the FM's #1 fansite) A US retailer also said the US release date was May 1st, so its not confirmed but probably 1st week of May for the US...no word on the EU release date yet Japanese final box art www.forzacentral.com/gallery/files/4/8/FM2_J_FinalBoxArt.jpgpeace

Forza 2 Limited EditionPost at Forzacentral Recently some new info on a Limited Edition of Forza Motorsport 2 appeared. Keep in mind that there is no official word nor announcement of a FM2 LE.
Anyway some retailers in Europe received the latest release lists from their distributors and there is also a "Forza Motorsport 2 - Limited Edition" mentioned. Well since the LE was already featured on the previous lists and is not really news to most of you, the interesting fact this time is the fact sheet for the game that also now mentiones some of the exclusive content the LE will have compared to the normal version:
FM2 LE content: - Book (200 pages) with photos, car characteristics, etc... - Soundtrack (12 known songs) - Extra Cars (must be downloaded via Xbox LIVE, only possible with the Limited Edition)
How much this info is true can't be said at the moment but since the distributors get their info directly from the makers, in this case Microsoft, there maybe some sort of truth behind it. For now it looks like only retailers in Switzerland got that info, since some of them are also listing it on their websitesTeamxbox posted this so its more or less confirmed peace

the veyron is the type of car that may be added as a unicorn car (these cars won't be listed, they're cars which are unique either for being rare or exotic)
i'm hugely disappointed they dont have the bmw m5 so i'll have to make do with the m3....hopefully, they'll have the m5 as downloadable content

interviews.teamxbox.com/xbox/1931/Forza-Motorsport-2-Interview/p1/Forza Motorsport 2 InterviewPound-for-pound, it’s hard imagining another racing franchise measuring up to Turn 10’s Forza Motorsport. The original Xbox version of Forza Motorsport featured a ground-breaking tire physics model based on non-Newtonian physics and built with the help of leading manufacturer Toyo. If that wasn’t enough, gads of performance parts and layer upon layer of livery meant that each of the licensed cars could be as fast as they were unique. With Microsoft’s new console came the murmuring about a new era of racing, again thanks to the complete motorheads behind Turn 10. As more and more details about Forza Motorsport 2, surface it’s easy to see why its scheduled May 15th release date can’t get here soon enough. You probably already know about the force-feedback, the 60fps, over 300 licensed cars and new livery editor, but what you may not know about Forza Motorsport 2’s tournament structure, Photomode or Forza TV functionality. We didn’t know much either, so we asked Turn 10’s Community Manager Che Chou to help us out with a few questions. Was PGR TV the inspiration for Forza TV? Che Chou: I wouldn't say that PGR3 was the inspiration for Forza TV, but we certainly saw a lot of potential in the feature during the launch of Xbox 360. The great thing about a first-party publisher like Microsoft Game Studios is that there's a really talented team dedicated to creating innovative tools and technologies to be shared across the entire portfolio. So when we set out to create Forza Motorsport 2, the spectator technology was already an option we could consider including in the game. Of course, in a game like ours, Forza TV is a no-brainer since we focus so much on customization and user-created content on the track. Now, when you watch a live tournament or race, no two cars will look the same, and more often than not, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the amount of customized permutations you've never even seen. In fact, we can't wait for the game to come out so we can spectate tournaments and check out what the community is doing with the customization and paint tools we're giving them. Tell us about what your post-game release plans are for Forzamotorsport.net. Che Chou: Forzamotorsport.net has the luxury of any web-based medium, which is to say we can adapt very quickly to the needs of the community. After Forza Motorsport 2 releases, I see the website going through several overlapping phases. There will be the initial excitement of launch where we gauge community reaction, answer questions, do some tech support, and track which areas of the game the community flocks to most. Simultaneously (day and date with the game's release), we kick off official in-game tournaments and start spotlighting key community features like the Time Trials Scoreboard, most interesting or expensive car auctions (as well as unicorn cars), weekly tournament winners, best photographers with photomode threads, and more. Then a month or two after Forza 2's release, we'll likely roll-out new features for the site to either make life easier for users, or functionality based on community demand. So in a way, when development on the game "stops," is when development on Forzamotorsport.net starts heating up. How will Photomode help the livery artists to showcase their work? Che Chou: Although Forza 2 isn't the only game with Photomode, it is the only game with a Photomode that really matters -- again, due to our focus on user-generated content. As you may have seen with the first Forza Motorsport on Xbox, our community was creating liveries and designs on cars that far surpassed what we expected for the toolset we provided. The problem back then was that there wasn't an easy way to show-off these creations without literally taking a picture of your TV screen with your digital camera -- not the most ideal solution, to be sure. This time around, not only have we given livery artists 10 times the power in the editor itself, we're allowing them to pause the action at any time during a single-player race or mulitplayer replay (even downloaded ghosts and replays from the Scoreboards) to snap photos. For those who want a more controlled environment, we also let users take pictures of their cars in the livery editor "showroom" stage. How will online tournaments be broken down? Skill? Engine cc's? Drivetrain configuration? Etc.? Che Chou: We haven't announced the exact breakdown of our online tournaments yet, but generally speaking, they will initially be categorized into race classes. The good thing about our tournament mode is that we have complete control here at Turn 10 to change and customize tournaments on the fly -- kind of like what Bungie does with Halo 2's game types. This gives us the freedom to create tournaments based on any number of criteria. I'm curious to see what the reaction will be from our community and what sorts of tournaments they'd like to see. This Friday's Turn 10 Weekly Pitpass Report on Forzamotorsport.net will talk more about tournament functionality. How will Forza TV watchers choose which "channels" they tune into? Che Chou: Without getting into too much minutae here, watching online games Forza TV will be similar to what we saw in PGR3. The difference is that with tournaments, you'll need to go into a tournament tree and select the race that's currently being run. Can shots from Photomode be sold in the Forza 2 Auction House? Che Chou: No, you cannot sell photos from Forza Motorsport 2. We encourage folks to share their works on our forums. That said, our Auction House will feature thumbnails of cars (with livery) so you get to see what you're buying before you plunk down credits for a bid. Will big online tournaments be tied into any prizes? Gamer Score points? MS Points? Maybe an exclusive car or some other digital content? Che Chou: We haven't currently announced anything official in terms of prizes and sponsorships for tournaments. But given that the whole system is so flexible and easy to get into within the game, our community should most definitely expect something to be in the works when Forza 2 comes out.
