Developer Kojima Productions Publisher Konami Designer(s) Hideo Kojima (producer, director, writer) Shuyo Murata (director) Yoji Shinkawa (character designer) Harry Gregson-Williams, Nobuko Toda (composers) Release date TBA 2007[1] Genre Stealth-based game Platform PlayStation 3
Metal Gear Solid 4
Set several years after the Manhattan incident (the events of Metal Gear Solid 2), Metal Gear Solid 4 portrays a world where the restriction of military intervention on foreign soil has eased, leading to demands on mercenaries to fight proxy battles for business purposes, fueling the need for private military contractors (PMCs) and automated weapons.
However, the five largest PMCs are revealed to be owned by a single mother company, Outer Heaven (the name of Big Boss's mercenary company and fortified nation in the original Metal Gear), operated by Liquid Ocelot. It is revealed that Outer Heaven has amassed a military equivalent in manpower to the United States' own, and is now preparing to launch an armed insurrection. With the world once again in crisis, Solid Snake is deployed to the Middle East.

MGS2 came out on Xbox as well but one year after PS2 launch. But this ones certainly a bad news. Playstation has already lost GTA, AC, Resident Evil, and now this. So what's next? Killzone? Devil May Cry? . MGS is like Halo for Playstation. If Sony looses this title to 360, then PS3 is doomed. May be not in Japan, but rest of the world will belong to Xbox 360. But I don't think that'll happen. Kojima had said all the videos shown at E3 and TGS are real-time, in-game and made possible only because of the Cell processor.. So let's keep our fingers crossed and pray

add GTA4 and FF to the list.
Sony's left with MGS, GT, DMC, SOCOM & killzone... do you seriously think they'd give up MGS??
V
ps: i thought there was a big fracas regarding the MGS4 videos -- there were many who believed that the footage was pre-rendered to match what the ps3 'might' deliver...

I did mention GTA And the trailer is real alright. Kojima has proven it at TGS by interacting with the video. The link to the video...http://www.techeblog.com/index.php/tech-gadget/metal-gear-solid-4-real-time-demo Look at how the lighting on Snake's suite changes dynamically. Kojima had said at one place that, people saying the footage is pre-rendered is a compliment to their work and power of PS3. One statement at this video he makes that's cracking, "The polygon count for Snake's mustache is same as one enemy soldier in MGS3".. The demo of Killzone 2 is a totally different story. It is still most controversial. You can check it out at IGN. ps3.ign.com/articles/614/614924p1.html

no FF ( final fantsy) is not coming to the 360 and will never come to any other console i think ,sony and square have something of a hand in glove relationship with each other. as CC said kojima showed a real time demo while they were changing the lighting and camera angles for the tgs2005 demo ,also as previously said kojima has never used anything pre-rendered.even when the announcement trailer for mgs4 was out ,it was made on a mgs3 engine using the power of the ps2 since even the dev kits of ps4 were not out. mgs4 is currently the best looking title out there(yep even better than gow) and has still a development year left *drools*
also killzone wont come to the 360 or anyother console since gureilla(or whatever) are first party developers for sony.

FFXI did make its way to the 360 (though it was a MMO) -- it's quite possible future FF games/spin-offs might find their way to the 360 as well...? i know it sounds implausible, but you never know -- square has returned DQ back to nintendo (next game will be on the DS), so who knows? if the 360 can capture mindshare/marketshare in japan in the next 18-months it might just happen V ps: i'm sounding like a fanboy!

only reason ff11 released on the 360 because it released on the pc too.mmorpg need sytems that have good internet connectivity, and xbox live provided it,it was only square method of making a quick buck from the already released and dated FF11. dq is a different story ,a ds version dosent mean there wont be a console version.also they created a new 3d engine for the ds and since ff3 was the only game made they decided to make one ,also another reason is the number of units it japan ,ds is a massive massive hit in japan and japanese ppl need to have their regular rpg fix.

KC, since you're the biggest fanboy (in good way) of MGS here, let me ask you something. Have you seen the video of MGS4 where towards the end, Snake uses one of the statues to disguise and blend in ? When the guards leave, he again blends back and you see a younger version of Snake, just like in Snake Eater. What is this? Is it another kind of disguise? is he older version of Raiden since he was wearing a mask before (although with same eye-band as Snake) ? or is he some lost son of Snake, since Kojima quotes "some bloodlines must come to an end"

the only person having an answer to that is hideo kojima, there are many speculations going on ,like the mission is a flashback and stuff lyk that ,but the most sensible one at the moment is that its just made by kojima productions to make the fans think nad it will certainly be not included in the game, chk the white hair of snake while the mask is still on in that scene

Yup, looks like just another piece of 'Kojima Humor'. Just like that printed message on the box 'NO PLACE FOR HIDEO'

ps3.qj.net/MGS4-still-a-PS3-exclusive-So-much-for-the-rumors/pg/49/aid/76574CVG reports that a Konami representative has informed them that "Konami has no plans to bring Metal Gear Solid 4 to the Xbox 360 at this time," and that the adored and anticipated stealth game will still be "exclusive to PlayStation 3." Well, so much for the rumors and the speculation that circulated this past weekend. The rumor went that the MGS installment will branch out onto multiple platforms as Konami was worried that there won't be enough PS3's in circulation when MGS4 hits the shelves. Of course, it is a bit unwise to rule out cross-platform versions of the game in the long term, but for the immediate future, unless Konami does a back-flip, it seems that Snake is solidly with Sony. and since it is about the no of ps3 in the market at the time of mgs4's release, here are the numbers for the games sold METAL GEAR SOLID(psone)- 6 million METAL GEAR SOLID 2 (ps2) - 7.5 million METAL GEAR SOLID 3 (ps2) - 6 million.
