Gaming site CVG managed to sneak in one of the gazillion online forums (it didn't say which forum specifically) and learned something juicy about up and coming video game Grand Theft Auto IV (360 and PS3). According to the site, GTA IV is set in the city that never sleeps - New York City. (Yes, we know Liberty City is based on New York City...) Furthermore, CVG added that the insider information came from someone involved in the game's soundtrack who will come up with NYC-themed music. That part sounds interesting as we can imagine underground rock mixed with, what, Broadway. Anyway, as always, Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar are neither confirming nor denying this little detail. Grand Theft Auto IV is expected to hit retail stores in October of this year. The first ever trailer for the game will be available on March 29. Maybe we can get some more clues once the game trailer computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=159852

I was hoping it would be london or somewhere in south america !

i just find it strange that after GTA3 they went with titles like vice city and san andreas and now suddenly their back with the numerical progression
i have always regretted not finishing GTA3...i was about 90% through the game when the game started giving errors....i hate PC gaming

Actually both GTA SA and GTA VC were just prequels to GTA 3. And the name of the cities used in all of them were in fact the names of the cities/areas in the 2D GTAs. And R* has sometime back said that GTA SA would be end of the trilogy they always wanted to make and its sort of "completing the circle" starting out with GTA 3 and ending with GTA SA. So I dont think GTA 4 will have anything to do with these games.

www.vgcharts.org/news/news.php?id=195Microsoft Places a bid for Take 2??Yesterday Take-Two revealed it was postponing the previously scheduled annual shareholders meeting to explore its options, one being a possible sale of the entire company. Today word has reached us through the grapevine by means of an inside source at Rockstar Vancouver, that "the buzz" in the hallways is that Microsoft might have put in a bid or expressed interest in purchasing the ailing publisher/developer. While this is a mere rumor, albeit from a reliable source, it is to be taken with a grain of salt. Just imagine the ramifications....

Contrary to rumors, Microsoft's Shane Kim is saying that the company is not interested in buying Take-Two Interactive, and for good reason.
CNN's Chris Morris talks about the potentially powerful acquisition, citing Shane Kim and some pretty good reasons why Microsoft wouldn't want to take over Take-Two:
One company that says it's not in the running is Microsoft. Because today's independent publishers are platform agnostic - that is to say, they build games for all major systems - taking over one would result in a massive revenue loss for Microsoft, as all development would be redirected toward the Xbox 360.
"We could never launch an acquisition bid at a third party publisher," said Shane Kim, corporate vice president of Microsoft (Charts) Game Studios.
Of course, where there's a will (for rumormongering), there's a way. "Potential buyers" now include Ubisoft, Activision, Bono (care of Elevation Partners), and Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. Sorry folks, Cthulthu won't be making any bids this time, so consider that rumor smashed.
