'BioShock' Demo Up On Xbox Live!  With very little of the weekend left, a demo for BioShock has hit Xbox Live! Get downloading! You have precious, little time before the week begins! If you can... the Live servers are being hammered and downloads are incredibly slow. The demo weighs in at 1.35 GB and the game will be released on August 21st for the Xbox 360 and PC. Go! Go! Go! Update: We've played it and we want more! We cannot wait for the full release because this demo is just amazing. It's short, but it gives you enough of a taste to make you want more. The enemies are fast, furious, and there are a lot of them gunning for you. You will get to use 3 different weapons and 2 plasmids in the demo, which mostly sets up the atmosphere of the game and introduces you to the underwater city of Rapture. If the game is as good as the demo, this will be a strong contender for game of the year, but right now it is certainly demo of the year. If you don't have a 360, go find someone who does and play this now. wont buy this game was really disturbing Its a sequel to system shock series, so not suprised if its disturbing, but is it scary as well ? System shock 2 scared the shit out of many ! |

played the demo. *spiloers* It starts with a plane crash in the sea close to a light house. The protagonist seems to be the sole survivor. He then goes to the light house and soon finds out that its no normal light house. He steps in the 'bathysphere' and it heads down, deep into the sea. an audio plays telling you about the place you are about to visit n why it came into existence. Soon you get glimpse of the city 'Rapture, enormous city reaching deep into the ocean bed. A whale swims by  . you reach you destination and the creeps begin. the Bathysphere has still not opened and you see a splicer(i think) slash a human. Meanwhile you can hear radio chatter from the service radio of the bathysphere. You are asked to pick it up and an irish man tells you what to do. you step out of the sphere n see placards which reveal that there had been a revolt against the rapture administration and people wanted to leave that place but were banned from doing so. The atmosphere is very very eerie. soon you see the same splicer being shot at by the flying bot. The protagonsit is then prompted to carry a weapon and soon he finds a wrench. 1 minute later you get your first kill. A splicer! The bodies can be searched and usually contain money, ammo and 'eve'. Soon you get your first plasmid - Elctro bolt. Protagonist passes out after injecting it and a cut scene begins where he sees some splicers and later on a little girl and big daddy pass by. Electro bolt if used stuns the enemy and then they can be hit by the weapon. It can be used to override some broken switches, and perhaps hack a bot too(which i forgot to do). You reach an elevator and reach an upper level, meanwhile the irish guy tells the protagonist to rescue his family and how the adam changed everything. on the upper level you can see the reflection of a female talking to her child in the pram. Very very freaky!!! When you go close she attacks you i was totally creeped out by this one. The pram has no child but a revolver then you get a machine gun. and pass through certain security cameras. If you are caught in the camera, the alarms sound and bots come n shove some bullets up your ass. meanwhile you also get an incinerate plasmid*spoilers* The graphics were good but not ground breaking(perhaps i have been too spoilt after gears). Textures were smooth. Environment was creepy creepy. Enemies very smart. They tend to attack more while you are reloading. Very ferocious. At times i creeped out so much that i got attacked by a splicer and even though i had enough powers to kill him, i was too creeped to do anything. using electro bolt in the puddle of water with a splicer in it was very satisfying(yes i am a sadist) No use of money yet but you can use eve as 'mana' for using plasmids.
People! play it in the night with lights off and 5.1 on  PS forgot to mention no direct fights with big daddys here in the demo, but you can see how he kicks a splicers butt and why hes called a big daddy. |
