Guys what do u think abt certain games being exclusive to certain consoles? well to me it is a curse for gamers, ok leave the fanboy attitude aside and think 4 a while, wont a ps3 owner wants to play gow? or what abt 360 owners who wont b able to c solid snake for the last time. this exclusive sh1t just benifits the console manufacturers and even game developing studios suffers a big loss, thats why developers have started to go multiplatform rather than sticking to a certain console. peace

So in that regard, I say, make all good games available to all gamers....and throw out all the crap exclusives at the wii. I really dont care if some 2D looking games like mario or zelda or some other wierd kiddish looking game ( ouch, here comes a rant ) isnt there on my console ! I dont give a damn if PS3 guys get to play Halo 3 as long as I get to play their MGS 4. But, I would sure be pissed off if there're tons of exclusives on other console and not on the one I own. To make the long story short - I hate exclusives in the true spirit of gamin

i want an exclusicve only till a game releases on a single ,once the game releases it can goto any other console i have no problem.why i want is not because of fanboism or supportfor my console ,it is because multiplatform titles have to be compromised in some way or the other ,which then shows on the game itself.

true....there is a lot of compromise on multi games....it will be very good on one platform while it suffers on another....no developer is gonna take the time and spend the money to separately work on each platform of the game
this is why i'm gonna get GTA4 for the PS3...rockstar are obviously more inclined towards the playstation where GTA games are concerned

last weeks statement by konami's podcast is a testimony of that.
"I can tell you honestly at this point, we have not changed the game in any form with the idea of 'oh, we got to do this on 360.' Put aside whether or not we're developing for 360 or not, the game is built on the PS3 hardware, as you guys have known for the past two years or so."
in other words even if the game comes to the 360 6-12 months later they are not thinking about it the issues 360 will have, its optimised for the ps3 and ps3 only.

it works the other way too....there are developers who are more comfortable developing games for the 360

^^^ no u didnt get me , its easier to port from the ps3 to the 360 ,than from the 360 to the ps3,hence most new games are built on the ps3 hardware and then ported to 360

^^^ no u didnt get me , its easier to port from the ps3 to the 360 ,than from the 360 to the ps3,hence most new games are built on the ps3 hardware and then ported to 360 Howz that ? The core API's of both the systems are completely different....Microsoft uses directx APIs for their xbox whereas Sony uses a variant of OpenGL - and believe me these things are completely different from each other...! Its not so easy as replacing a directx API with a OpenGL API. The way what most development studios follow is the use of middlewares so that they need not be bothered with the acutal APIs underneath and concentrate more on the application devleopment. This is where middleware game engines like renderware or UT engines come into pic. These are available on almost all the platforms and some studios have their own game engines for most of the platforms as well. In effect, the developers need to conc only on their game logic and game applications like AI, character design, modeling etc, the actual rendering is done by these middleware eingines. To make it simple and short - its should not be so easy nor so difficult to port a game from one platform to another - unless there're some drastic changes like the motion controller of Wii - where even the game mechanics are completely different !
