gamerevolution.com/news/view.php?id=2264New Tekken 6 DetailsAfter all the production delays and after all the assumptions by fans who wished for a Tekken launch title on the PS3, Bandai Namco has finally shown us the fruits of its labor. At the AOU Amusement Expo, a convention dedicated to Japan's arcade industry, a new three-minute trailer for the arcade version of Tekken 6 made its debut, featuring in-game fight footage for the very first time. In addition, the trailer also showcased two brand new characters: Leo (a blonde pretty-boy type) and Zafina (a sultry brunette).
According to reports from Impress Watch, Leo is a German-born fighter whose techniques are based on Bajiquan, an explosive martial art that is known for its short range power and elbow strikes. Namco representatives assure that both Tekken veterans and rookies will be able to adapt to him quickly. The reporter's initial impression was that Leo would be a speed character that would invoke memories of Feng's style.
Zafina, on the other hand, has more of a mysterious aura about her that will both fascinate and confuse opponents, the reporter claims. Her unique fighting style is comprised of fluid techniques resembling those of a spider, clinging to and crawling across the arena floor.
Namco also promises that Tekken 6 will feature the second-largest roster of characters of any other Tekken game with more than 35 currently being planned for the game. There will be a healthy mix of old favorites and new characters, including the return of Armor King, who can actually be seen fighting in the trailer. Apparently, his return in Dark Resurrection wasn't just a hallucinogenic figment of somebody's imagination.
The trailer also featured brand new stages and environments, including Bryan's stage, which features a tank sitting in the middle of the arena. Just like the more recent Tekken games, it looks as if the developers will continue to pay attention to creating obstacles within the playing field. Facial features in the game also look more detailed than before, although changes obviously need to be made to Asuka's creepily soulless expression.
But perhaps the most interesting part of the trailer was the character customization system, which has been greatly upgraded since the series' last installment, offering customization for 10 different parts of a character's costume. For instance, Jack-5 (or whichever Jack model will be appearing in this game) can now be equipped with individual armor parts that can cover him from head to toe.
The trailer ends with Bryan whipping out a shotgun from his back (probably a customized item) before blasting his opponent with it. Although this will most likely be implemented as a win pose and not an actual in-game technique, it's open to speculation whether customized items will have an effect on character animations.
The trailer has been made available on the official Japanese Tekken 6 site, which has just recently upgraded to add a brand new Tekken 6 section. The page is sparse with content currently, but rest assured that more updates will be coming soon.

gamerevolution.com/news/view.php?id=2595Tekken 6 news update According to a post on the forums of Tekken fansite Tekken Zaibatsu, the May issue of Japan's Arcadia magazine contains some new exclusive details regarding Tekken 6, which plans to be released in Japanese arcades by the end of 2007. However, at this point in time, the game is still only 40% complete. One of the major differences going from Tekken 5 into Tekken 6 is the complete change of character animations for every single character on the roster. What this means is that players will no longer be able to rely on the same old visual cues when it comes to predicting their opponents' techniques. The article takes particular notice of the animation changes made to both Lei and Yoshimitsu, who have gradually sunk lower and lower into the character tiers since Tekken Tag Tournament and have therefore been in serious need of a character overhaul. In particular, director Katsuhiro Harada explained that Yoshimitsu has been too difficult a character to control with too high of a learning curve in recent Tekken games, so his moves -- particularly, his sword styles -- have been changed drastically for Tekken 6. As the story goes in this game, Yoshi's sword has been losing power, which threatens his position of leader of his Manji clan. So in order to adapt, he's been forced to adopt two new fighting styles: one that uses twin swords and one that uses fists. Whether Yoshi can freely switch between styles during play remains to be seen. The article also notes that Law's animations have been changed as well, and that these changes will be much appreciated by practitioners of Jeet Kune Do or just fans of Bruce Lee. Will Jack actually be able to use those big guns?As you may have remembered from GamePro's coverage of the AOU trailer posted back in February, Bryan pulled a shotgun from his back and began shooting his opponent with it at the very end of the trailer. It's been confirmed that this move was not actually a win animation as had been previously assumed, but is actually an in-game technique. According to the article, all characters will have an item that can be utilized in combat, but the damage done by each item varies. For instance, Anna can throw her high-heeled shoes at her opponent, but that will probably do less damage than Bryan's shotgun blast. We'll just have to see. Harada still hasn't confirmed whether a character is able to use multiple items on his/her costume or just one. Leo -- XX chromosomes? Big shocker.Oh, and one more thing that I'm sure many of you may have missed: Harada confirmed that the new character, Leo, is actually female. And in another surprise, Namco has also confirmed the existence of another character, and he's been right under our noses the whole time. Apparently, "Manly Man", as he's come to be known amongst the Tekken Zaibatsu forums, can be found 2:05 into the original AOU trailer, which shows footage of game designers putting the finishing touches on his move animations. Fansite SD Tekken reveals that Namco plans on giving him moves that will be completely new to the Tekken series. That's what we have so far - GamePro will keep you updated with anything else that comes off the wire.
