Check this article out: gamepolitics.com/2007/07/08/surge-protectors-behind-360-failures-huh/I have no beef plugging in my console to a free slot except the electricity here is crap and I really dont want to fry my 360. I got 3 red rings once though during a power outtage. BTW on a different note, I have a portable batter which I have my PC plugged into just incase the power goes out....would I be safe to plug my 360 in there?

Haha, True Arjun.
I think the reason like they said in the article, Is that the surge protectors cause minor flucuations in electiricty which is harmful to the console. Ive gotten the 3 Red rings before several times on my console (IMO) because of my surge protector. Where I live the power can go out for just half a second, but that would be enough to get me the red rings. That's why I want to plug it into a battery...so that if there is a power cut, I wouldn't have this flucutation of power since my 360 is constantly in power. and if the power cuts, I can just switch off my console without having it fry.
Has anyone done this before?

I connect my box to my PC's UPS, just in case the power goes off during a gameplay session. I am happy to say that I have never faced a RROD problem as yet (bought my box last december). Have had other problems though, especially because of this weather.

in my opinion UPS r way bettah den SPs coz they're designed specifically for PCs n stuff whereas SPs r designed to reduce high fluctuations to lower or no fluctuations but can somtimes cause lil fluctuations
