If you're completely new to this whole hi-definition disc thing, Sony is working on immediately jumpstarting your Blu-ray movie collection with a brand new promotion that starts this Sunday. Between July 1st and September 30th, customers who purchase a selected Blu-ray player can take part in a mail-in campaign that allows them a choice of five free Blu-ray movies from participating movie studios, such as LionsGate, MGM, Paramount, 20th Century Fox, Buena Vista, and Sony Pictures.
Now, a new generation of filmgoers can experience all of the flatulent fun of Blazing Saddles. Thankfully, Blu-ray doesn't emit smells in HD as well.
A recent post on Sony's PlayStation.blog confirms that the PS3 does, in fact, count as one of the selected Blu-ray players. Alternatively, buyers can also choose from machines from other manufacturers, such as Panasonic, Phillips, Pioneer, Samsung, and, of course, Sony Electronics.
The catch? According to GameSpot, qualifying customers must choose five titles from the following list of movies:
Babel
Black Rain
Blazing Saddles
Chicken Little
The Corpse Bride
The Devil's Rejects
The Guardian
Hart's War
Invincible
The Italian Job
Kiss of the Dragon
The Last Waltz
The Omen [2006]
Pearl Harbor
The Phantom of the Opera
Resident Evil: Apocalypse
Species
Stealth
Stir of Echoes
The Transporter 2
Underworld: Evolution
now is the time to buy this ! go for it
