Semi-official Sony blog Three Speech, takes time to analyze what to expect when it comes to PS3 games for the remainder of the year. Their big advice? The games will come, don't worry, and mark down September.
The post's author, Steve Boxer, notes that PS3 owners should look forward to third-party games like the The Darkness, Devil May Cry 4 and of course, the heavyweight GTA IV. It goes on to doubt if the Kojima stealth fest Metal Gear Solid 4 and the epic Final Fantasy XIII will be released this year.
Boxer notes that while MGS 4 has a release date of 2007, given Kojima's track record of taking his time to polish the game, one should be skeptical. On the other hand while Final Fantasy XIII has been projected to be released by 2008, he notes that we should see something about it (demo perhaps?) in time for Christmas. The epic Ubisoft offering, Assassin's Creed should also be out come Christmas along with Gran Turismo 5.
Boxer emphasizes that the big month this year for the PS3 is September, where titles like Lair, Warhawk, Killzone, and Ratchet and Clank should hit shelves. What else to expect come September? Oh yeah, the Goddess of War-esque Heavenly Sword.
What to look forward to come 2008? Boxer asks that we all watch out for PS3 versions of WipEout and The Getaway. Also, Eight Days, Afrika, and Resident Evil 5 are all also set for 2008 release dates.
Good to know Three Speech. I'll go back to Flow and Tekken Dark Resurrection now, thanks.
*Note* While ThreeSpeech claims that Lair should be out on September, other sources note that it should be out for North America by July 31 2007. Warhawk is also reported to be released during the second quarter of this year. It is likely that ThreeSpeech is talking about European release dates. That or their out to confuse us, given that they are "semi-official." Or even worse, Lair got pushed back.
A lot of sources still note Heavenly Sword as TBA. Looks like that TBA just narrowed down to September (which matches IGN's Q3 release window for the game).
