hey guys...i'm planning to buy a PSP for my cousin, but i have some questions
1. Is it advisable to buy it officially or imported? 2. Are PSP games region-coded? 3. Is it possible to play games from the memory card "after some modifications"? 4. what is the a) official b) grey market price?
thanks

games arent region coded but that is not really something you are worried about are you? also remember to factor in the cost of a 2gb ms pro duo - last time i check the PSP was available for 9k or so in the grey market (memory card for 4k?) pls check the firmware version of the psp before you buy -- if i'm not mistaken, you can rollback/downgrade 2.0/2.5/2.6 to the magic FW1.5 (not sure about 2.7+) V

2gb mem stick will set u back by 2.5k try to buy 1.5 firmware version (grey market ppl usually downgrade and stock it) grey market price should at max be 11k with downgrade

so basically it has to be downgraded to be able to play games off the memory card, right?

yep, fw 1.5 is the best bet for running homebrews & isos.

games arent region coded but that is not really something you are worried about are you? Vinit you read minds don't you ;D Anyways, sameer, make sure you have usb cable to transefer game isos from memory stick to PC and back as some games are huge in size. For e.g. MGS:PO is 1.3gb. Also, tell that guy from the shop to load the game for you and test it there itself. Some isos are faulty with frequent freezing.

i lost my 2gb card (actually the fracking photo studio swiped my memory card) and havent bothered about getting a replacement as i generally play the isos off a usb connection, but if gaming on the move is a BIGGIE, then you need a 1gb card at the min (95% of psp isos fit OR can be ripped to fit on a gig stick)

you can also convert iso's into cso's with everything intact(sound cutscenes),it brings down the size drastically
