Slow motion, dual pistols and white doves are a trademark of John Woo. Check out any of his asian flicks like A Better Tomorrow, Hard Boiled, Killer or even Face/Off and M:I-2...
Michael Bay is the one who likes to make these overblown, overhyped, overbudgeted movies like Armageddon and Pearl Harbor who also likes to use slomo a lot... but I guess he's probably gonna redeem himself with the upcoming Transformers.

John Woo's Hollywood flicks are nothing compared to his asian movies... just watch Hard Boiled, A Better Tomorrow and Killer. The gunplay is nothing short of amazing! The entire second half of Hard Boiled is a massive shootout inside a hospital with a 10 minute segment which is shot entirely in one take. Really awesome stuff!
It's too bad he made some pretty crappy Hollywood stuff like Paycheck recently...

John Woo's Hollywood flicks are nothing compared to his asian movies<< That goes for most HK /China films. They should be watched in Cantonese or Puthonghwa. The crap they ship to the US is censored and dubbed. FYI Chow is a very very down to earth guy. He uses public transport while in HK and I have bumped into him loads of times on the subway. He hasn't forgotten his roots. Same story with Jet..Sadly Jackie has turned into a real Ahole. Most of these guys live work very close to where I live in HK and work out at Jackie Chans Gym where I work out at every morning. John Woo is always walking around or driving around TST in his beat up rangerover
