IGN Hands-on.... its gonna have bikesWhile PGR 4 plays very similar to its predecessor, there have been a few changes. The most notable is some tweaking to the Kudos system. You will no longer be able to earn quick drift Kudos by quickly swerving on a straightaway. All powerslides will need to be genuine this time around. And there's been an adjustment to Kudos timing so that "Kudos can be truly chained." PGR TV has been given a makeover. It's now PGR on Demand. Expect a lot more videos for each track in PGR 4 along with uploaded pictures as well. You can search by very specific criteria to find the right videos. Let's say you want some tips on powersliding in Vegas. What happens in Vegas, no longer stays in Vegas. Just search for "longest powerslide" and learn from other racers. You can also find places to catch the biggest air or watch entire runs to find how to earn the most Kudos. Project Gotham Racing 4 is looking promising. Though the series is fundamentally the same as it ever was, there's enough new wrinkles to satisfy fans. So far, we have only had a chance to get our hands on the motorcycles. Hopefully we'll get to race in some muscle cars against the new and improved AI. With PGR 4 feature complete and expected in early September, we should be seeing quite a bit more of Bizarre's racer in the coming months. xbox360.ign.com/articles/802/802288p1.htmlpeace

DVD size limiting Project Gotham Racing 4gamers-creed.com/?p=156. You won’t see different times of day per city because this involves recreating all the textures again (one for day and one for night). Whilst this wasn’t a problem for our dev team, it was a problem fitting all this data onto a single DVD. So we’ve worked around the problem by providing different lighting models per city. For example, Macau is always in the daytime, but if you play it during a storm everything looks darker and more foreboding. If you play during a blizzard then things are slightly tinged blue and everything seems more frozen. Of course, playing this track in sunshine will make everything appear bright and yellowy.

why doesnt MS just cut its losses (and invite more lawsuits) by announcing that they WILL start releasing games on HDDVDs
not only are they screwing up their exclusives, theyre limiting the possibilites of cross-platform games which affects the PS3 versions as well (case in point - GTA4)

It'll be a huge HUGE mistake from M$, practically a suicidal decision if they go HD-DVD for games. They're already running into trouble for use of HD in games, even when core users are less than pro. If they release games on HD-DVD only, then consumer lawsuits will be least of their concerns. The damage is already done, M$ should've thought of it before rushing to the market. Now they just have to minimize it with compromises like in PGR4.

As I'm sure you've seen, some of the comments made on our forum have been blown out of all proportion. This has been reported on certain web sites. It seems that a number of fanboys have jumped on the topic... sigh. So it's time we cleared this one up... When we started designing PGR4 our primary goals were to create a great and unique experience over and above PGR3, to push the hardware as far as we could, and obviously to ensure that we give great value for money. DVD size is absolutely not a factor that we consider when designing our games... and PGR4 is no exception. DVD9 gives us more than we need to create a fabulous experience for you guys. The previous game, PGR3, had five environments. That's how much we could create given our time and resources for that game. With the longer development cycle we've had for PGR4, as well as the advantage of having final hardware, we wanted to create a far bigger and better game by this time including 10 environments, as well as a whole bunch of new gameplay features. Rather than having two "fixed" times of day, this time around we decided to use our time to create a dynamic weather system, which effectively creates a much more dramatic palette from which to work with. To show you where we're coming from, have a look at this screenshot crop sheet. This is something we use internally to compare our environments, lighting, and weather effects... but it's certainly useful for demonstrating the breadth of the game here! - Bizzare Cropsheetpeace

Lol, M$ execs must have gone nuts seeing dev comments about their drive earlier. All they seem to do these days is damage control.

i wonder if MS owns the PGR franchise or can bizzare shift platforms after PGR4 coz the devs must be quite annoyed if theyre going public with their grievances

They are like second party. M$ owns PGR but not Bizarre as whole. So they can release new IP for other platforms excluding PGR.
