Gamers all across the world are discovering the glorious goriness Gears of War is dripping with. Gear yourself up for the 30 most unforgettable moments from this spine-tingling shooter!
Close Enough To Smell A Berserker's Butt Breath
This burly beast has only one thing on his mind and that is to slam into you with all of its weight, shattering all of the bones in your body. The Berserker is blind, not too bright, and more pissed than a bull on Mars. Even more frightening than the devastation this freak can cause are the strange squeals they make while lunging at a target.
Rotting Corpse Pinatas
These stinky fellas appear in several different parts of Gears of War and are a testament to the fact that the game's creators really went the extra mile by adding touches like these to bring you a genuinely disturbing experience. The coolest part about running into one of these putrid cadavers is that you can beat them like a punching bag causing them to swing around from the chains they hang from.
Beer Bummer
Battling odious aliens all day is hard work and the only thing that hurts more than Torque Bow arrow wounds is finding one of these kegs of liquid pleasure only to discover that it is empty. Doh!

Junker Joyride
Easily one of the most memorable (and fun) moments in Gears is riding through a crumbling freeway in the Junker. This vehicle is so sturdy that any gutted vehicles or crap in the road that you ram into will fly out of the way like they were made out of Styrofoam. The Junker also has a UV turret that projects a beam of light that turns Kryll into ash.
General RAAM
The leader of the Locust race is as creepy as they come. From the black cloud of Kryll that hover around RAAM like flies to excrement, to his outfit that looks like it was made out of recycled tires, RAAM is an unforgettable character indeed.
Reavers On A Train
Arguably the coolest looking of all the Locust monsters, the Reaver doesn't go down without a fight. Towards the end of the game, Reavers keep coming at you while you are standing on top of a train. A Troika chain gun which is conveniently located nearby will allow you to disintegrate Reavers with hot lead.

Death While Blasting A Duke
The fact that this guy died while on a toilet is almost too sucky to make fun of... almost.
Escape From Adam's House
After bumping into the two Boomers that don't want you to leave Adam Fenix's estate unscathed, this silly looking creature with a cannon strapped to its back pops out of nowhere and charges after you and your men, trying its very best to stomp on you or blow you to pieces. This scene is also reminiscent of the infamous T-rex / Jeep chase from Jurassic Park.
Black Blood Beauty
One of the more striking things in Gears of War is the viscous dark blood that comes out of characters who are shot, splashing just about everything in the game including the screen. Using the Torque Bow is a great way to maximize blood flow.
Devoured In The Dark
If Alfred Hitchc0ck's film The Birds didn't scare you, the flying carnivorous Kryll in Gears of War will. These bat-like creatures will eat every ounce of flesh off your skeleton if you are not in a well-lit area, bringing a whole new meaning to being afraid of the dark!

Kim's Murder
Lieutenant Kim's untimely death is just plain painful to watch as General RAAM gores the poor guy with a jagged-dagger after socking the Lieutenant in the face. To make matters worse, the heartless RAAM stares Kim directly in the eyes as he is doing this.
Oops!
The Stranded, who is supposed to be leading you to the Cart Control Room during Act III, carelessly runs across some rickety floorboards. They collapse, sending him crashing down into a dungeon where a horde of Dark Wretches gobble him up. Watching this happen is both haunting and funny.
Just When You Thought It Was Over...
When the resonator detonates at the end of Act III and your entire squad jumps into the air in unison, the game feels like it has just ended. A call from Hoffman informs you that the resonator has failed, leaving you with a whole final act to enjoy!

Roller Coaster From Hell
A more gripping mine cart scene hasn't been done since the likes of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. To make this Gears of War moment even sweeter is the fact that you can't fly off the track and all you have to do to stay alive is blast anything that you pass in your cart.
Pretty Imulsion
Some things in Gears of War are just amazing to look at, and the golden imulsion pools that surround the pumping station are just that.
Dropping The Hammer
The Hammer of Dawn signals a satellite that fires a scorching beam of energy that incinerates anything you aim at. It doesn't matter how big the enemy is that you are battling because they all turn into wailing babies once they get a taste of The Hammer.
Rodent Mush
Boomers don't look where they are going. In one scene in Gears of War, a Boomer squashes a rat with its mighty boot, leaving nothing of the rat but a hairy pile of innards.
Computer Coffin
Exposed entrails are something Gears of War is not deficient of. This guy's bloodied corpse is literally draped over his computer. Is he a victim of a Locust Drone or someone whose World of Warcraft account got erased?

Follow The Burning Car
Normally cars that have burst into flames are the antithesis of safety. In the case where you are running away from a swarm of Kryll down a steep street, the fiery car will actually protect you until you reach the gas station. Kryll fear light, but they hate fire!

A Disregard For Human Life
Gears of War's creators were not bashful about using a ton of blood in their game, even to the point of being bloodier than a Friday the 13th movie. In this room, a bunch of people were butchered and their blood was used to paint the walls like a psychotic Jackson Pollock painting.
Adios General
Whether you're playing the game on casual or insane, RAAM is no easy kill. In the final showdown with him on the train, it takes fast tactical action and nerves of steel to slay the general, but getting even with him for your fallen squadmates is more than satisfying.
The End Of Carmine
Private Carmine may be a minor character, but the way he goes is no minor event. Another murder by the merciless General RAAM, Carmine's head is blown off execution style.
Indestructible Toilet
Another Gears of War moment to file under bizarre. This toilet is the only thing remaining of a blown-up side of a building that you walk through.
Cooking The Corpser
The Corpser battle is an incredible boss fight where the two of you try to kill each other on top of cooled plates of magma. One drop of the Corpser's mammoth claws and you are finished. Once he is pushed back far enough, you can destroy panels that are the only thing preventing him from getting deep fried.
Ravens Vs. Nemacysts
The Nemacysts are no match for some helicopter turret fire and in a explosive cutscene at the beginning of Act IV, a group of Nemacysts are vaporized, making a really cool looking explosion.
Horrendous Chainsaw Mutilation
Nothing beats the look on a Locust's face when it realizes it's about to receive the world's most painful facial massage with the Chainsaw Bayonet. No ordinary chainsaw, the Bayonet quickly turns an enemy's noggin into a jet of liquefied head. Watch out for brains and other organic debris while doing this.
Boom You're Dead
The Boomshot's grenade projectiles make killing gorgeous, as they literally leave nothing left of whatever they come into contact with. Remember to say "BOOM" as you do this.

Helicopter Crash
Just as many of the cutscenes in Gears of War are, the sequence where a helicopter's blades cut through the side of a building is hard to forget. The helicopter then erupts into a ball of fire as it crashes down on the street below.
Last Minute Leap
The ending in the game has quite a few moments that are engraved in our minds. The most spectacular of these instants is when you are lifted off to safety seconds before the train you are on flies off a damaged section of the track, exploding into a twisted wreck below (just like Batman Begins).
Gears of War 2?
The very last image that you see in the ending of Gears of War before the credits roll is not a Reaver. It isn't even a Locust that we've seen before. Our guess is that this is a glimpse of Gears of War 2, which we all know is coming.
