square, konami and namco are too big companies to be bought by Msoft, so is capcom but there was a rumour of a msoft buyout. sega too just as big ,but their quality of games ever since the dreamcast debacle and the companies financial conditions are a bit suspect. koei is the one they can actually buy also instead of buying msoft should finance the whole game themselves so the studios get tempted to try it on a M$ console

OMG if MS pick up Konami and Square thats the end of the PS3 right there, a MAJOR reason people buy the PS series is games from those two companies, their pedigree is impeccable. I highly doubt Sony would allow MS to step in on their turf and buy two of their mainstay brands, but seeing how they have been treating 3rd party publishers recently I wouldn't be completely at shock, just content that I picked up an Xbox 360 and not a PS3.... yet

also i dont think the japanese companies would allow msoft for a buyout. the only big japanese developers currently supporting the 360 are mistwalker and tecmo tecmo's case is simple, the dead or alive series was always lost between the big figh-em-up games namely virtua fighter, tekken and soul caliber, it was only after they moved to xbox platform did the game get its recognition , but it still lacks what VF and naco's duo of fighters have(apart from the girls maybe ). M$ t financing games for them dosent hurt either.the only wothwhile game they made for the xbox brand is ninja gaiden. as for mistwalker, M$ asked them to make a game for the 360 to save their debacle over their.the game is financed by M$ and is officially a microsft studios game.also mistwalker are a new companyand for new companies to make nex gen games with the high production cost is not very financially viable,if i can say that.

Everyone please do not waste your time and money on the PS3. It is the SAME AS THE XBOX. The xbox has more power. This is a fact. The ps3 has so much hype about there god damn lol, 6 sell processor...but the thing is none of there games have beeen designed to push the ps3s hardware that far..as for the 50gb bluray discs, no game will be 50gb for the next 6 to 7 years, you know why...?? because no game programmer will ever need to make a game that big....look at the xbox 1's Grand Theft auto san andreas ...that was a massive game all in 3gbs ....and look at the 360s massive game called Mass Effect that is a mere 6gbs!!!! Microsoft will also be realeasing a developers program called XNA TOOLS wich will make it easy...very easy to make and create your own xbx 360 games using your computer....and burn them....Playstation on the other hand requires programmers to learn some new languages and experament with the new blu-ray discs.....and they have to code in the traditional c# or c++ languages....Also it costs 1000's of dollars to buy a development system...whereas Microsoft is allowing programmers to install XNA onto there xbox's and create and test there games and sometime in the next year or so,... programmers will have there own section on the xbox live marketplace....where they can sell or just post up demos or full versions of their games for people to test out and comment on or buy..Microsofts main idea is to make it easyier for programers and developent comanys to make and produce games...its also a much cheaper and effective way....Microsoft also wants to infuse new fresh ideas into the gaming industry. Halo 3 will also up microsofts sales by alot....and the halo movie set to launch end of 2007 or early 2008. Microsoft will also be realeasing a service called live anywhere wich enables you to acsess xbx live from your Mobile and your windows vista PC. They will also have cross platfrom live wich will for example if someone has a game on the PC that is also available on Xbx360 then they can play cross consol live...
Please stick with Microsoft, you will not regret it. BTW both my parents work for microsoft and have been for over 15 years. I will keep you posted on whats going on. And if you are wondring why i am in india it is because they are sechedualed on an overseas assingment. I am from Vancouver canada but i acutally live in Redmond Washington and have my whole life..lol but its just me, my mom, and my dad the rest of the family is in Vancouver so we have one house in Redmond and One in Vancouver and every friday night we drive to Vancouver wich takes 2hrs and we comeback before monday. -

valid points rajin -- the ps3 is difficult to program (and sony's development tools dont make it any easier); xna & game studio express will bring more indie developers & garage coders to the forefront -- but it's going to be a while before MS allows you to buy & trade XNA developed games (in its current iteration, you need to buy an yearly subscription for $99 which allows you to exchange *source code & assets* with other XNA members); live anywhere is needed to push their games for windows (vista) platform forward & yes MS has quite a few exclusive AAA titles in the pipeline.
BUT if you expect Sony to whimper a soft woof and scamper away (with tail tucked between its legs), you're kidding yourself!

there are specialised firms that track/gather market data from a few key chains/stores and interpolate it into estimated sell-throughs -- i dont know if this site is 100% accurate, but it's not total BS!

www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4343&Itemid=2In its monthly report analyst Arcadia Investment says console sales in November topped 3.2 million units. Xbox 360 unit sales topped a minimum of 500K units in the month, probably more. Microsoft is now on track to sell through about 4.25 million units in the US in calendar 2006 with an installed base of around 5 million units.
As is well known, available quantity of PS3 was probably less than 150K units at launch, with a further 50K creeping into the channel in November. Arcadia says a 600K total sell through for the year is reasonable.
Wii sold about 500K in unit sales in November with a tie ratio of about two per console. Zelda attached at a 75% or better rate. The report says that Nintendo remains on track to deliver about 1.3 million units to retail shelves by year end in the US.
PS2 sales topped 500K units, driven by the $129 price point and Guitar Hero II. PS2 is on track to hit about 4.7 million units in CY 06, which would bring the US total to about 36.5 million by year end
Among the handhelds, DS unit sales topped 600K units, putting it on track to exceed 4.5 million by year end and 8.3 million cumulative. PSP unit sales approximated 350K units, similar to last year’s. PSP is on track to sell about 2.9 million units during the year, driving the installed base to about 6.5 million units. GBA sold 500K in November, which should bring the year end total to approximately 3.1 million units and the cumulative to 35 million.

any idea if the wii is region coded? peace Yeah, it's region locked. As for 360 in Japan: it should pick up a bit once Blue Dragon, which is this week, iirc. Nextgenwars is crap, do not rely on their numbers. Launch numbers as of now: Wii ~500k in US (about a week's number) ~350k in Japan (two day's number) PS3 god knows, they are not saying (their launch is WORSE than the 360's though, as far as numbers go)

www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=12042Wii Reaches 50,000 Sold In UK LaunchOfficials from the UK branch of Nintendo have said that sales of the company's just-launched Wii have reached 50,000 in the 12 hours since the console first became available.
Sales of the Wii seem generally consistent with those in America, where Nintendo has said that the console reached sales of nearly half a million in the first week past its November 19th launch, at a rate of over 70,000 per day.

kid first of all you need to go to school. lol...he is 33 years old. And rajin, I'd love to stick with MS, but their d**n hardware isn't sticking with me. I've had three original Xbox and twice my 360 has been sent for repair, and I'm still holding on to big fat PS2 that I had purchased in year 2000.
