That site is a joke, 3 days back it had some 6,600,004 consoles and in three days it shows Xbox 360 has sold more than half a million 360's. But if that "Live" sales figure is any true than Sony lied bad...
They never had 400,000 PS3's intended for NA, but its good to see Wii selling so good. I see thousands of videos on YouTube with people really enjoying the console and its really good to see that.

The PS3 has bombed, plain and simple -- the Japs will still lap it up, in fact as some have observed, Sony can sell them polka dotted bricks and they'd buy them by the dozens to build doll houses for themselves.
On the other hand, the Wii is getting rave reviews from even its loudest naysayers. Nintendo ki jai! Will pick up one as soon as its available in India.

any idea if the wii is region coded? Not sure -- too much noise about 'region free', 'not region free', 'first party region free', 'region locking upto publishers' prior to the launch. But since Nintendo doesnt have an official presence in India (even though it has tremendous brand value amongst kids/teens) it's a moot point -- the grey market will have a software library that matches the consoles they would be selling... PS3 has not bombed, its sold out as usual everywhere. I did some searching and found out that somehere near 200,000 units were only made available in North America, some 150,000 for US i think. PS3 shipments will be made on a weekly basis as stated by Sony.
Some 50,000 units will be shipped weekly and i am sure it will work out great. I know the hatred is there because consumers are "forced" to buy something even though it is value for money. IMO, i would like all three Giants to work out great and maintain a healthy competition. Since Nintendo has gone in a different direction, it leaves Sony and Microsoft.
If Sony's PS3 fails, Microsoft will have a monopoly in the hardcore gaming community and MS will charge any bullsh!t it wants for its game. Japan won't let Sony fail and neither will US but it will take time for Sony to climb up the ladder. Its got some fierce competition this time around with MS on one side with hardware on par with PS3 and Wii on other side which is all innovation...

heh, maybe i wasnt clear enough -- the PS brand is huge worldwide, and is still considered number 1. but sony has missed a trick with its limited and non-concurrent launch and does not have the positive word of mouth publicity they are used to (owing to several factors). this is going hurt them and they will be playing 'catch up' for quite a while -- now whether MS can captilise on this or not, we'll only know in 18 months...

launch lineups are generally bad, infact ps2 had a disaster of a launch lineup,ps3 is sold out thats why the figure is looking bad.probably after the europe launch the figures will rocket up
wii is something ill again wait and watch cause the games at launch are not gr8 apart from zelda which isnt a wii game built from groundup, also i would love to see the response to wii once the novelty factor wears out

Not surprised by that, the 360 is really dying in Japan.

MS should buy out a few revered jap studios -- capcom, square enix, koei, konami, namco, sega etc
