Some more info from Wikipedia, for those who think Assassin's Creed is another Sands of Time..
News has also circulated about a 'sci-fi twist', due to information from developer interviews, and some effects visible in trailers of the game. It is theorized that the historical setting may be a simulation, or perhaps some sort of genetic memory, for purposes of training or other gain, being undertaken by an unknown group in the present or near future. During a trailer shown at E3, the screen would glitch and go fuzzy at times, and at one point where Altair is killed, the screen fades to black and then shows a head's up display with the words 'computer offline'. Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin's Creed will be part of a trilogy, and has also stated that one or both of the sequels may have a futuristic setting.
On September 28, 2006, in an interview with IGN, producer Jade Raymond confirmed that Altair is "a medieval hitman with a mysterious past" and that he is not a time traveler[3]. The 'computer offline' message may be a computer that is decoding these memories, and death in the memory is some kind of glitch in the system. This is consistent with this particular design team, as in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, death was interpreted as a mistake in the Prince of Persia's recounting of his story to Farah. In an Xbox 360 gameplay demo at X06, a screen appears with the words 'memories /01' in the center with "hard drive" on the left and "options" on the right after the character dies. Above memories it says "animus" and under it are the words "access your genetic memory". The word "shutdown" can be seen in the lower right-hand corner, and the outline of a person can be seen past the words, almost as if the person was standing over someone on their back, and you can also see on the right-hand side a light bulb and a grate on the ceiling. Also, in the upper-left hand corner on the screenshot, it reads "in progress" so this maybe something involved in the development.

ubisoft is doing a good job by keeping the plotline/setting of this game under wraps -- when consumers start analysing and interpreting every subtle hint/clue into speculative theories, it creates a viral buzz that no marketing dollars can buy (matrix & lost have done this successfully in the past)

[/i][/quote] if i am right metal gear solid 2 had a very similar plot, wherin u feel that in the game ,boss battles and situations u end up in are similar to mgs1 and then find out this was a part of simulation going on to create the perfect soilder (although this is only a part of the story)

IGN TV: You also have a videogame you worked on for next year, right?
Bell: Yeah, I actually have one coming out for Ubisoft. I don't know what the date is; sometime next year. It's called Assassin's Creed. You can check it out at assassinscreed.com. It's actually really interesting to me. It's sort of based on the research that's sort of happening now, about the fact that your genes might be able to hold memory. And you could argue semantics and say it's instinct, but how does a baby bird know to eat a worm, as opposed to a thingyroach, if its parents don't show it? And it's about this science company trying to, Matrix-style, go into peoples brains and find out an ancestor who used to be an assassin, and sort of locate who that person is. It's very, very cool, and I've seen all the graphics for it. We just recorded all the dialogue and did all the face scans and body scans, and I'm really excited about it.ps3.ign.com/articles/750/750957p1.htmlthis is from an interview of kristen bell. she has provided voice-over for one of the characters in assassin's creed. dude, assassin's creed is actually a sci-fi game!! ;D ;D

This is very good marketing by Ubisoft. Creating huge hype without giving up too much info and spending too much $$$ on marketing.

when you said footage from the game i thought there was a new gameplay movie or something which you had forgotten to provide the link of. No no I didn't call you or somebody else funny. Actually I had put the image itself instead of only the link. But when you quoted my post, there became two images from that site on this forum, and that became like bandwidth stealing. Thats why instead of the actual image, i saw message "your site is stealing bandwidth from us". That was funny. I deleted my post and the image is back. And there isn't gonna be any gameplay footage of this game for some time, trust me. They've released only one since it was announced 18 months ago.
