Hi, Am planning to buy a sony psp here, since the rate has now come down to $170. But I want to make sure that whatever I'm buying , I must be able to run homebrew on it (if u know what i mean  ) . I have heard about the LCS loophole, which allows us to run homebrew, also heard that sony has now patched that up in its latest firmwares ! So, can u guys let me know, if im buying a psp, how do i know what firmware its running on ? Also, while buying, should I insist on a psp with a particular version of firmware, so that i can upgrade/downgrade it with lcs or other games ? Thanks very much in advance. I plan to buy it in a week, so really appreciate if u can give me your inputs as soon as possible. Thanks in advance  |

First of all check for the FW by looking at the box....it would likely be below the Voltage rating
Below is the code and its corresponding FW
A = 1.5
B = 1.51
C = 1.52
D = 1.52
E = 1.52
F = 2.0
G = 2.01
H = 2.50
I = 2.60
J = 2.70
K = 2.71
L = 2.81
M = 3.01
N = 3.03
O = 3.10
P = 3.11
Q = 3.30
R = 3.40
Try to get a PSP below 2.80,cause u will need the GTA UMD once u cross 2.81.

the games given by Capt.Jack Sparrow can only be run on CFW...so first u'll have to DownGrade it to 1.5 and then to Custom Firmware(CFW),u dont need GTA or Lumines UMD for firmwares 2.80 and below,so try to get that PSP
