Metallica is all about one @ VEEN Pink floyd isclassified as rock .. they play ACID ROCK i agree....but there is a diff between rock and heavy metal....pink floyd is not heavy metal...just like bryan adams, bonjovi, etc are not either... @ tyler - i disagree....before black, they were not the best....for me, the best era was frm black album to reload....after tht, again they are becoming bad..!!

I'm starting to listen to this genre now, a late starter I know....came across "number of the beast" by iron maiden and sorta getting hooked on to this. So far I've liked fear of the dark and wicker man ! Can you guys post some other good songs as well (if u can call them songs ) along with the band name. I got some recommendations on bands like "System of a down", "Megadeath" etc, but I dont know the songs....not much familiar with this genre....so pls post across a list of ur fav....will try to find them or buy them if not available on net!

Ok well, don't get into System of a Down just yet, they are... well... a bit weird. Iron Maiden is definitely a good starting choice. I would suggest...
Metallica - Nothing Else Matters - The Unforgiven - Turn The Page
Guns 'N Roses - Welcome to the Jungle - Estranged - Sweet Child O Mine (I don't like it much but it's their most popular song) - Don't Cry
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit (duh!) - In Bloom - Lithium - Come As You Are
Some newer stuff...
A Perfect Circle - The Hollow - Weak And Powerless - Passive
Lacuna Coil - Heaven's A Lie - Swamped - Tight Rope - Enjoy The Silence
Papa Roach - Last Resort - Between Angels And Insects - Not Listening - Scars
Incubus - Pardon Me - Megalomaniac - Wish You Were Here - Stellar - Anna Molly
Rammstein (they sing in German but the music rocks!) - Engel - Du Hast - Tier - Feuer Frei! - Ich Will
Well, that's it for now!

GTA SA had the best game soundtrack ever (besides maybe guitar hero)....the rap, the funk oldies, everything was amazing

^^ Hey even I'm a 90s kid, but as cheesy as it might sound now, 80s music was damn awesome!
Although not bad by any means GTA:SA actually could have had a wider and better soundtrack because I'm sure Rockstar just put in whatever they could buy. Whereas the Vice City soundtrack was more thought out and covered pretty much all the essential 80s music. Plus I think it would have been easier to buy rights to all those songs compared to newer music.

I know I know... but if you look behind the crazy image of most of the artists, you'll actually find some good music... trust me. Even I hated 80s music earlier (actually I didn't see beyond heavy metal and hard rock during my teens) but somehow it has grown on me. Now I have a much wider taste in music.

i listen to some of the early 80s funk and R&B but as the decade progressed...shit got out of hand....for me, its 70s then skip to the 90s

90s was definitely the best time for music except towards the end when boy bands and teenybopper sh!t got out of hand!
