OK, what the heck was Mel Gibson thinking when he made this "Anatomy class / Post Mortem" simulator movie ? This is by far the most goriest (note the double superlatives !) and disgusting film I've seen Agreed, its a technically brilliant feat with above the par cinematography. And the use of native Maya language and completely new breed of mexican/latin american actors to achieve autheticity is much appreciated. But the film really makes you puke, whats the bloody need to show such gore so graphically - for instance, removing a heart, later holding it in hand and frying it ! Chopping off a Tapir's balls and handing it to one of the mates ! Man ! This is just too much to watch....its disgusting ! After watching this, any gory movie I've seen till date is a pussy, including SAW series ! So if any of you plan to watch it....better carry a bag to puke your guts out ! P.S: I dont know if there's already a topic on this, in which case, mods can lock this thread or merge it with that !

I liked Apocalypto.... and it's in no way it's the goriest movie I've seen.... I've seen a lot worse than that! For example Mel Gibson's own The Passion Of Christ was far more violent and gory. Apocalypto was quite a different movie and even with the ancient language and weird characters it was easy to relate to. Good action/chase sequences too... I'd give it a 7/10. BTW, gtavint... you should watch Cannibal Holocaust. Apocalypto is like a Disney movie compared to that!

^^ Besides that, somehow it makes you feel guilty for watching it.
Did you know that the gore in the movie is so realistic that the director was arrested with the suspicion of actually murdering the actors on screen. He had to make those guys appear in court to prove he was innocent! The animal killings were however totally real and I think he was sued for that too...
The goriest movie however would be either Ichi The Killer or Peter Jackson's Dead Alive (aka Braindead). But since both movies are made for laughs they're not as disturbing as Cannibal Holocaust.

Dudes, you have missed out on "Hostel". That movie had people puking and fainting in the cinema halls. The realism is hot home even harder after you are treated to naked scenes of some really beautiful eastern European women in the first part of the movie. The move from teenage backpacking holiday to death is mentally and visually stunning.

Hostel was okay... but I feel Saw was much better. Hostel had the gore and sex but no real plot... Saw had a much better story to go along with the violence.
Audition was also downright sick and disturbing, another one of those movies which starts off as something else and turns into something else towards the end. In fact the director of Audition (Takashi Miike) also makes a cameo in Hostel!
BTW, for those interested, Hostel Part II is coming soon...
