demo out later this year.? www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=161521Alright folks, once again, it's rumor season, and what better game to speculate about than the much-awaited (and absolutely gorgeous, by the way) Final Fantasy XIII? This Playstation 3 (PS3) title has recently been getting a lot of attention, partly because of the upcoming Square Enix Party, and partly because of the latest rumor about it which is said to originate from the pages of the magazine Electronic Gaming Monthly. According to the rumor, a playable demo for Final Fantasy XIII will be distributed via the Playstation Network sometime later this year. To quote from the magazine, "We hear that Square Enix will release a demo of its highly anticipated role-playing game via Sony's online marketplace". This has, of course, set many an FF fan into a slight frenzy. Meanwhile, the folks from CVG have contacted Square Enix Europe for any comments regarding this rumor, but the spokesperson simply replied with "I'm afraid I can't comment on the playable demo of FFXIII at present." Aww. This if very exciting news, though, considering that April is the month of April Fools' gags, and EGM was the originator of the now-famous Sheng Long myth, we suppose that we really can't be too sure unless someone from Squeenix and/or Sony finally speaks up about the matter. But we can dream, can't we?

In the latest PSM, the unofficial PlayStation Magazine, some tasty and possibly regrettable claims are made about the graphics of Square-Enix's upcoming Final Fantasy XIII. Invoking the unholy name of Sakaguchi's Hollywood abortion Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, PSM's Kaiser Hwang sets us up for some serious overhyping. Says Hwang, courtesy of FF-XIII.net: The graphical quality is simply stunning. In fact, we'd say it's, at worst, on par with The Spirits WIthin. Think about that for a second. Sometime in the next year or two, you'll be playing a game on a home console that's, so far, visually superior to a Hollywood movie that required hundreds of computers to make. Gah! Despite some very pretty pictures shown off by Square-Enix over the past year, I have my doubts that they'll look like that in the final product. Maybe he's right and FFXIII will melt my eyeballs. I'm just a very sensitive man and can't have my heart broken by another lofty "better than Toy Story" type claim. Hold me kotaku.com/gaming/ps3/final-fantasy-xiii-looks-better-than-god-250857.php

Thats one thing with Squeenix, you can rest easy about the graphics. The visual quality always stuns you. Have a look a FF XII. Its awesome, coming from a 7 year old console. Though despite speculation, can it be Spirits Within level "at the worst"? Only time will tell...

In-game gfx something like Spirits Within? Not impossible but will be difficult. As I said, only time will tell. I've seen the FF7 Tech Demo and that was a FMV/Cut scene not in-game gfx as Square has clarified and is easily understood.

In an interview with the Australian Official PlayStation Magazine, game director Motomu Toriyama gave some pretty interesting details about Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIII games. Lightning has been confirmed as the main character in FFXIII, but not much was given about her past or her personality. Toriyama was as hush-hush about Lighting as Lightning is about herself in the game. He also mentioned that they will be deliberately introducing the rest of the characters in a certain order. There's the possibility of making minigames in Final Fantasy XIII, but they might end up as full game releases. Toriyama was also asked whether the game will be utilizing the PS3's other features like the Blu-ray disc format and the PlayStation Network, and he replied by saying that the PS3's high-definition capabilities were most crucial in the development of the game. He also said that the devs are contemplating on the PS3's online functions. When asked about what makes FFXIII different from the previous games, the director cited the major difference in the Active Time Battle (ATB) system of this video game and of the previous ones. The ATB has been "sped up to its limit" which means a drastic increase in the pace of battles in the FFXIII. No details were given about the other Fabula Nova Crystallis games since they were not mentioned in the interview. Toriyama also didn't give a specific release date for Final Fantasy XIII. So while we wait for more news on this Square Enix epic, check out the rest of the scans of the OPM interview with Toriyama for more FFXIII goodness. reminem.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=73&Itemid=2
