On the secret 'Island of Rhodes' website revealed in God of War 2, fans were rewarded with commentary videos from the game's Director. One thing that was overlooked on the website previously, was that upon digging deeper there was a hidden code which would allow you to unlock a higher-resolution mode for the game (480p to be precise), allowing it to look much sharper on HDTVs. The code is as follows:
L1 + L2 + L3 + Square + Circle
In addition to the code, a countdown was revealed that asks gamers to wait for 11 more days to find out about 'God of War: Ch'

i work in hyderabad for a game testing company called gameshastra
its into testing of games for consoles and handhelds...
and god2 was really really good...had a 3 day marathon playing it since i had a long weekend....

here is some good news for u guys who are buying pal ps3 to play gow2 in HD
The secret HD mode in God of War II has been dropped from the European release as the disc space was required for all the extra European languages.
It didn't take US gamers long to discover that God of War II on PS2 contained a very pleasant upscaling surprise. Fans soon discovered two puzzles on God of War that, once solved, lead to details on how to get God of War II running in 480p.
But just as we're getting excited over the upcoming UK release, word comes from Sony that this option won't be available in our version. A Sony Europe spokesperson told CVG this afternoon, "This option isn't available in the European release because there wasn't enough space on the disc to allow for it. Whereas the US version still had enough room to incorporate this feature it had to be removed for ours because we had to use the final disc space for localisation (all the extra European languages)."

It's a shame but couldn't be avoided, according to Sony. There is hope though if you have a PS3. GOW2 will work from launch on your PS3 and the next-gen console upscales the game to 576p, provided you use the HDMI cable.

If you’ve had nothing better to do in your miserable life than to stare at the new countdown timer on the Island of Rhodes site each day, like us, then you’d see that a significant portion of the new name has now been revealed. And considering how there’s very little space left in the frame and just one large character left, we are betting our lives and using our really sharp, blazing fast brains to deduce that the new game/mode will be titled: God of War: Chains of Olympus. Actually, we have a life, so we just leeched this news off the poor sucker that actually managed to complete all the tile puzzles, the Roman number puzzles and then got to this picture. We don’t know about you, but we are definitely betting all that’s left of our hard earned money that Chains of Olympus is definitely either an announcement on Ready At Dawn’s port of God of War on the PSP or a new locked blade upgrade in God of War 2 that can be unlocked somehow, considering SCEA had said that the site is for God of War puritans and bears the PS2 logo all over the place. Either which way, we’re cleaning the freshly dried blood off our blades for the upcoming battle, errr, announcement. Amazing how a lot of people already predicted that the annoucement would be called Chains of Olympus, even before the word “Chains” could be fully unveiled…
