Xbox-scene.com is being flooded by posts of users with modified Xbox 360s being banned from Xbox Live. Microsoft hasn't officially responded on the subject but it seems to be a perfect timming for them considering the Halo 3 Beta launch and the upcoming avalaunch of big exclusives, starting with Forza Motorsport 2 this month.People with modded consoles are getting this image n4g.com/xbox360/ViewImage-O40398-I40400.aspx

Microsoft responds One of the great things about LIVE and the unified community is that we work hard to create a level playing field for all gamers and have a no tolerance policy towards inappropriate behavior like hacking or cheating. As part of our commitment to our members, we do not allow people that we have detected to have modified their console to connect to LIVE. This is an important part of our efforts to try and maintain a fair gaming environment for the large majority of gamers that play by the rules. This topic is more important than ever given the recent release of the Halo 3 beta. As a result, some consumers that try to login to LIVE who we detect have illegally modified their console will get an error code (Status Code: Z: 8015 - 190D) when trying to connect to the service. These users will not have their account automatically banned from LIVE, but they will no longer be able to access the service from the console they modified. We have stated in the past that customers can only enjoy access to the Xbox LIVE community through the use of a genuine, unmodified, Xbox console and we will continue to enforce this rule to ensure the integrity of our service, the protection of our partners and the benefits of our users. gamerscoreblog.com/team/archive/2007/05/17/545414.aspxpeace

Today Microsoft spokesperson Major Nelson confirmed on his blog that modded Xbox 360s are being banned from Xbox Live. Nelson says Microsoft has a zero-tolerance policy towards modded consoles accessing the service in an attempt to ensure a level playing field for all users. If Xbox Live detects a mod chip in your console, you will be treated to this screen: If you see this, you have been banned from Xbox Live. The act of installing a mod chip in your 360 involves opening the console and soldering the equipment into the hardware, effectively voiding your warranty. The most common reasons for going through the effort are to get around the region lock on games and to play copied software. The ban applies only to the console, not the user, so there is nothing stopping a modder from obtaining another, unmodded system and joining in the fun on Live. xbox360.ign.com/articles/789/789640p1.htmlpeace

I knew this was coming sooner or later. Sad for those people who had a modded console but this was bound to happen someday.

I think these bans are only for soft mods and chip mods that are presently available. And i suppose soon new mods will come out within months and even those modded xbox which are getting banned may be able to get back on xbl (its just a thought, my xbox is not modded and i dont want to cause any offence to anyone)...........till microsoft get to these mods, which may be 2 years or so these guys can go on xbl

no offence but hackers will always be ahead of the people who tries to curb their badass potential of screwing giants of the gaming world, within few months hackers will find a way to tackle this problem of live ban. peace

vee-en how gonna it affect the sales and it's price, i believe there r more offline users than online especially in india, the main reason 4 that is live being paid service, and moreover it hasn't been officially launched in india yet, so getting a recharge is a hectic process. peace

the rumour that ms gonna ban modded console was there for all the eternity, so people who have purchased the mod console knew this problemo gonna arise in the near future, so it's not going to be a big deal for them, and 4 things always gonna have an upper hand in this world- 1 terrorism 2 prostitution 3 drugs 4 piracy peace
