yup although its mentioned in the spring update thread, this is big enough newsto have its own thread
i would be over th moon with this news (i have a huge collection of xvid movies) but the only problem is, how do i get the damn xvid movies onto the 360...i dont wanna install media center on my PC, its a piece of crap
so unless there is a way to ransfer the movies to the 360 this is a waste to me
peace

having support for mpeg4 and h.264 is one thing, but whether MS will allow you to stream or play 'any' content (xvids/HR videos downloaded off the net) is another thing altogether...
imo, this might be linked with vista and its media center ability and might be limited to copy-protected content either purchased off their video store or on partner sites...

@san - they already have support for mpeg1 and some other formats BUT you can only stream them using a media center OS... dont get your hopes up man, the 360 is not gonna transform into an universal media player with this update!

certain WMVs can be played off CDs or USB datasticks/memory cards, BUT every other format that the 360 supports needs to be streamed or needs to be DRM compliant...
