Not true. It'll work on all TV sets. The color spec of that particular region might create some problems though. But most TVs in India are multisystem, so no worries.

I played yesterday a Japanese Ninja Gaiden Sigma on US PS3 on Indian SDTV in 480i. And it played just fine. Just had to reset the console's display settings to match the TV.

"Clearing Up Game Region Issues : Over the last couple of weeks we have received many e-mail and posts on the blog questioning the region free capabilities of the PS3. With the news that the European version of PES 2008 will be released first many US, Japanese and Asian fans are hoping to get their hand on PES 2008 before it's released in their respective regions (Japan - Winter '07 / US - Feb '08). A couple of fans are asking questions regarding playing the game imported on Standard-Def (SD) and High-Def (HD) Television. This post aims to clear up any confusion regarding playing imported games.

Obviously, If you own a European PS3 then you will have no problem playing PES 2008 on an SDTV or HDTV. However, if you're playing PES 2008 on a US or Japanese PS3 then you will have to own a HDTV to play the game as it won't run on a SDTV. To Play the PS2 version you will have to own a PAL (European) PS2 or have a PS2 that can play games from all regions (region free).

Similarly, the new PS2 game J-League Winning Eleven 2007 Club Championship released in Japan on the 2nd of August will need to be played on a Japanese PS2 or a region free PS2. On the PS3 this game will only work on a Japanese console as it is a PS2 game. This is unfortunate for owners of US and EU PS3's, but unfortunately the PS3 is only region free with PS3 games when it is connected to a HDTV."

We know PS2 games are region-locked so they won't work.

We also know that US and (and Japs apparently) are a$$oles who think world doesn't exist beyond their countries. So the TVs in US and Japan are ONLY NTSC standards unlike in Europe and asia where we have multisystem TVs. PAL system has same HD resolutions as NTSC, 720i, 720p, 1080i, 1080p. But PAL SD, on the other hand, runs in 576i / 576p instead of NTSC's 480i and 480p. PAL does support 480i/p but NTSC doesn't do 576i/p.

So bottom line is, if you have US/Jap PS3, a PAL PS3 game (encoded in 576i/p for SD res.), it'll still run on US/Jap PS3 but in res. of 576i/p, 720i/p and 1080i/p, but if you TV is US or Jap SD, which doesn't do any of the above, you're pretty much screwed. Its basically TV issue, not console or game issue.

No free assry you get console,1 controller,standard av cable,usb cable,manuals and if u register ur console ull get a bluray of open season.
