gizmodo.com/gadgets/home-entertainment/slimmer-ps3-on-the-way-237228.php It's no surprise to hear that Sony's already working on the next gen PS3, but rumor has it that the new PS3 will have a dramatically different design from its current incarnation, shedding loads of that initial baby fat for a nice svelte profile. Sony Japan says that they're expected to transition to 45-nm chips by 2008. These new chips would halve the size of the PS3's current 90-nm chips, allowing for that thinner, curvier PS3. Considering how fat the current model is, the idea of a slimmer console is a welcome idea indeed.

it is a big deal I hate how as console buyers we get srewed over I mean i know technology keeps changing and it's the same thing for pc but come on its only been released for like 5 months!!! WHY WHY WHY!!!!!!!!!!! They waited at least 3 years or four cant remember before releasing the slim ps2 and about 2 years before releasing a more silent ps2.... Cant they just make a product that doesnt need an update other then firmware?! I feel robbed as a consumer because I paid 500$-600$ on the system just to noe that for the same price in a couple of months there will be an improved version of one. If were talking about graphics cards on pc or processors that's completly different because you pay for the performance but here its just an improved design and esthetics not performance. I paid the same price for a bulkier less attractive ps3 (i dont ahve a ps3 just if i was a ps3 consumer) , and now there is the same ps3 for the same price but with a better design.

see like msoft they are not changing the hardware(not yet) and at earliest this might release in mid 2008.it happens with technology all the time buy a cell and 3 months later ull get a similar one with better features for the same price.
