The creative force behind the design of PS3, Teiyu Goto, has revealed how the Spider-Man font came to be used on PS3 in an interview with the Official PlayStation Magazine.
Goto explained, "Take the PS2 logo - we created it to blend in with the rectangular shape of the console. Personally, I feel very strongly that the logo would not have looked right on PS3.
"If you really look at the PS3 contour carefully, it is rounded when viewing the console in profile. Rather than creating a typography with all the risks that entails, it was wiser to use the one from Spider-Man, for which Sony has the rights.
"It was also the wish of President Kutaragi, who insisted that I use this typography. In fact, the logo was one of the first elements he decided on and the logo may have been the motivating force behind the shape of PS3."

As per your query, we would like to inform you that there is no announcement for PS3 launch. As per your query, we would like to inform you that Sony India is not into direct sales. Kindly contact dealers for the same. With Warm Regards, Sonika Saxena Sony India Pvt Ltd. - Delhi so unless milestone really surprises us, i dont think the situtaion is gonna be better than MS or even as good as MS peace

Nah, thats not shocking. They have done this before. Around 5-51/2 years back when we (a few of my friends and I) sent Sony and Milestone mails regarding PS2, Sony always shied away from it. They have done the same here. They have given the entire responsibility to Milestone (or rather Milestone has taken it from them). And, frankly they have done a pathetic job, with a f**k-all third party support. No Capcom, no Konami, no nothing. They launched FF X and thanks to the pathetic response that the crowd gave, they stopped all Squaresoft titles also. I guess the same is gonna happen this time around.

i was quite happy with the launch titles....but with a product like PS3 which sony was putting everything behind, i expected them to come in a big way
u cant compare it to the PS2 launch....which was years after the worldwide launch...by then the PS2 was already rampant in the grey market and it didnt make sense to invest at all in the genuine console market at that point
i think sony is missing a trick here....i get that theyre view of the indian market is different...while MS wants everyone to buy a 360, PS3 wants it to be a niche product...but still this is a shocking move imo not to take one of thier biggest products under their wing

Dude, you are not getting the point. If they have given the responsibility to Milestone, they will always stay in the background. They will only provide hardware support and that is it. And I still believe that more than Sony, its Milestone who has taken the initiative of bringing the console to India. For Milestone, it is a natural step but for Sony, who knows? Cannot entirely blame them either. I know I might get flamed for this statement but I still believe that our market is immature. Only ceratin genres of games are accepted by the mass audience like FPS and Racing. The audience for RPGs, TPS, Platform games is still niche by nature and remain that way for some time to come.

i sent milestone a long mail regarding 8-9 features ,they havent replied. our market is immature i agree no doubt, but things wont change automatically.
