PS3 will officially go on sale from 23rd marck 2007 in the uk(atleast) and the rest of europe for a reduced price of £425. full details from edge magazine. The PlayStation 3 will launch in Europe on March 23 for £425, says games mag Edge
In a post on its website, Edge says that it has been advised by a source wishing to remain nameless that the PlayStation 3 will "definitely launch in the UK on March 23 at £425".
Both the date and price have been strongly touted via internet rumours over the last few weeks.
Last week Sony said that the official price and date would be announced early this week, though semi-official blog Three Speach now claims that the announcment has now been pushed back a few days to either "Thursday or Friday".
When we picked up the phone Sony unfortunately wasn't around to give us their official line on the Edge report - but we'll be sure to let you know when they get back to us.
So would you but a PS3 at £425? Or have you already imported one?
p.s this date has a significance with indian history.. any1

Sony's PS3 launch for Europe seems in order - launch titles, open arms, marketing campaigns... One item on the checklist still remains, it seems. This is for everyone who asked about pre-orders: SPOnG reports that retailers haven't received word on their launch allocations yet - although that might change sometime in the next couple of weeks after a meet with Sony.
That's why preorders aren't available yet, SPOnG noted. It is understandable, after all, after what happened with the Wii preorders. According to SPOnG's talk with them, some are anxious to avoid a repeat of having to cancel preorders, as what happened with the Wii at launch.
Well, perhaps in the next couple of weeks, some details will surface after Sony and retailers talk. Then the online and on-site reservation madness can begin.spong.com/article/11653/Retailers_Still_In_The_Dark_On_PS3?cb=876
