I reserved 2 online through Sony's website and paid for one which is ready in the next shipment. Managed to get one a few days ago during the launch here but sold it to a Chinese friend.
The games out at the moment are not my type and I am willing to wait a while until more titles are released.
Blue Ray blanks are selling for HKD$140 a piece here at the moment.

I doubt it if the first generation games for the PS3 will utilise the full capacity of BR discs.
That said, it would require too much time and effort (downloading 20gb isos, buying an expensive BR burner, testing burn quality with relatively expensive BR media, etc) to play pirated games when the PS3 does get hacked (and that itself might take a while).
IMO, it's easier & more affordable to simply buy the exclusive PS3 platform titles (you can play non exclusive games on your PC/360/Xbox/PS2) for a hassle-free gaming experience.

PS: This equation changes WHEN advanced modchips & commercially pirated BR discs enter the market.

sony's console dosent look itll give into the modding scene soon.BR discs are expensive and the goddamn ps3 is expensive too which means that many might not try to fiddle with it right now also knowing sony there will be frequent system updates so its highly risky but the ps3 more than makes it up with linux and dual os settings so maybe one day we might be just able to run an emulated version on windows on it ps3 is really a computer system afterall  |

Genji & Gundam have already been flayed by most reviewers; Resistance seems like the only AAA title for US gamers (i dont understand jap mentality, hence dont want to comment on what they might consider good or bad)
DEC06
Motor Storm -- looks good; personally not a fan of off-road racers, and without a confirmed online MP mode...!
Sonic -- I LOVE SONIC!
Gran Turismo -- pedigreed franchise, hopefully wont disappoint
Fatal Inertia -- futuristic action racing, but this is KOEI's first racer
Blade Storm -- war/strategy game ala Dynasty Warriors, looks promising
VF5 -- pedigreed franchise, hopefully wont disappoint
Armored Core, NFS, Railfan, F1, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, NBA 07, Enchanted Arm are passable IMO

sonic on the 360 is dissapointing by most reviews,(wtf happened to sega and sonic team)
gran turismo is playing good and looking hot too
motorstorm is something ill keep my fingers crossed at the moment , despite reaching the e3 2005 quality this game might go either way
fatal inertia nd blade storm im not much interested about
VF5 is a sure shot hit the series has never failed

will defn buy the ps3 if a proper modchip like the one in PS2 is developed,, that will make it a awesome buy... because single player titile s in the ps3 are much better than the ones in the 360
