Yeah, like the sound your avatar is making while sucking on that cancer stick. But seriously, I cant fathom why Sony would want to make a move like this now, especially since things are actually looking rosy for them. You would think that after all the mis steps and elementary mistakes made by Sony since the PS3's announcements and launch, they would now try to ensure that every step they make is thought out in its entirety, considering every angel and aspect. But noooooo, they dont learn, do they ? its not sony call, its midways Yeah, but who owns the rights to the movie ??

Hard boiled is considered a main culprit to region locking PS3 version, a feat that hasn't happened yet. Otherwise why would the 360 version be region free. People are worried about this game setting a bad trend. Many PS3 games have different release dates for different regions.

Midway's European MD Martin Spiess has told GamesIndustry.biz the publisher is investing USD 30 million in upcoming action game Stranglehold.
Spiess claims the new IP could be the most expensive next-generation game in development, but is confident that come the September release the massive investment will pay off, with retail and consumers already very positive about the title."[Stranglehold cost] around USD 30 million, so it's possibly the most expensive next-generation game in development to date," said Spiess, in an interview to be published next week. "The early indications from retail and the consumers are there, so it is going to pay off." "In order to recoup development money you obviously have to sell a lot of units, but what we're seeing to date is that we will sell those units. Stranglehold will be the top selling title this Christmas," claimed Spiess. The title has been developed in collaboration with Hollywood director John Woo and action icon Chow Yun-Fat. Pitched as a sequel to the 1992 movie Hard Boiled, the limited edition PlayStation 3 version of the game will include the original film on the Blu-ray disc. And Spiess is confident that Stranglehold will offer a new experience for next-gen machines, rather than the equivalent of a PC game tweaked for the home console market. "From a playability standpoint and a technology standpoint, we're delivering something which has not been done before - true next-gen for the first time, rather than just having some PC game ported onto next-gen with higher resolution graphics," he said. www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=27297peace

Yeah, I scraped my plans of PS3 version, 360 FTW not so fast... the moderator who broke the news that ps3 version was region coded ,now confirms that the ps3 version will also be region free, standard and limited edition included ;D ;D ;D Echo77 722 posts Title: Moderator Midway has decided to make both the standard version and the North American Collector's Edition (with Hard Boiled on Blu-ray)of Stranglehold region free. Please be clear that the Collector's Edition with the movie is only available in North America, so if you live elsewhere, you'll have to buy it as an import. I guess the higher ups do listen to you guys on the forums! forums.midway.com/all_things_stranglehold/b10788/27240439/p1/?6

Wow, awesome news. Though I cancelled it because it is delayed by more than one month for PS3. Mine is region 1/US, so it wouldn't have mattered anyways.
