Just curious, whats the fun in these type of games with just two players fighting over and over again in some 100 env I mean, I havent played them, but I had played mortal combat on PC and got bored of it pretty soon....VF5 looks like a hi-def version of mortal combat !

virtua fighter is one of the deepest and advanced games(not just beat-em-up) money can buy. what fun is it? think about the movie matrix, reeves get his ass kicked and finally in the climax bang they cant even touch him.once you master the game something similar happens. one thing to remember with beat em ups is never to play it on easy you might win but youll nevr progress from button mashing

IMO Mortal Kombat was very crude form of this genre... Check out Tekken series and Soul Caliber series.. just amazing....with the kind of moves u can pull out and the balance in the game... button mashers get their butts kicked by even an average player in these games..whereas in games like mortal kombat and street fighter it was all about how fast u can press the buttons... Things have changed a lot.... Tekken especially has far more advanced combat type than any game i have played... u need some tekken dose my friend. strongly suggested.

you cant button mash through street fighter too, any one with a couple of known moves will kill you in that."perfect" tekken and coul caliber are gr8 games for begginers to beat em ups ,but vf5 is the ultimate test .

full ign review ps3.ign.com/articles/765/765805p1.htmlIf you like beating people up then SEGA's Virtua Fighter 5 is the game for you. Developed by the black belts at AM2 (Fighting Vipers, Fighters Megamix), VF5 is a true gameplay showcase that deserves more mainstream attention than it will probably ever get. Then again, proper timing can make a big difference in a title's success, and with the PlayStation 3's void of compelling software since last December, Virtua Fighter's chance of grabbing North American eyeballs is better than ever.
And let's face it, our attention should be grabbed. After all, one of the universe's biggest mysteries is why SEGA's excellent franchise has never reached the same American commercial success as its competition. Soulcalibur and Tekken both, for example, are lucrative post-arcade endeavors that see strong sales and good word of mouth years after their release. Virtua Fighter, on the other hand, gets labeled as "the hardcore alternative" and sees most of its action at tournaments or in Asian markets (it's huge in Japan); domestic appearances are usually relegated to diehard neighborhood get-togethers and occasional competitions.....................
