gtavintI play Oblivion on the PC too. Just press TAB to open the journal, click on the Quests tab (the cup icon), click on a quest name and then click on the Map button on top. It will show you where you have to go on the World Map. If you're just out of the sewers at the begnning, the Main Quest will be the only one listed. Just travel to Weynon Priory in Chorrol like Altair said. Easy huh? Also use the interior map whenever you're inside a dungeon or a cave. It will help you from getting lost or going round in circles. Lastly, just remember talking to people. Use the journal often! It's the best journal/map I've come across in an RPG... there's no way you can get lost in Oblivion. In fact questing in Oblivion is too easy...

invictus, Thats an awesome guide dude....thanks for the same ! And thanks to everyone else for their help....I joined the fighters guild and the dark brotherhood and getting to slowly learn the ropes of the game....I'm amazed by the sheer size of the city and the no. of quests available, I'm sure it'll take an year for me to complete everything ;D This is my first RPG exp btw Still I feel, this game is not worth 2510 bucks ! My advice to whoever plans to buy this for x360 - DON'T, if u have a medium range PC, buy the PC version instead....and there are a lot of guides to tweak the performance to meet your system's requirements and run at a stable frame rate !

I completely agree that the gameplay is more than 200 hours, but still I feel, there is nothing special on the xbox 360 version compared to the PC version. So why pay 2500 when u can get the PC version at a fraction of the cost, or even free ! Anyway, its just my opinion. And for your friends I have an advice, ask them to calibrate the values in oblivion.ini file in "my documets/my games/oblivion" folder....then, believe me you'll get easily get around 25-35 FPS without noticable gfx issues ! Moreover, you get to install mods on PC, some of which are very good for this game I hear

I agree with you that the PC version has an edge when it comes to the sheer amount of tweaks and mods that are available. Trust me, there are some truly awesome mods available which make the game a lot better... and Oblivion is already a great game to start with! So you can imagine. The combat is also a lot more intuitive with the keyboard/mouse FPS style control.
You do need a beefy PC to play it smoothly though. It's smooth as silk on my Geforce 7800 GTX...

no offence but pc gaming makes me puke these days :@ the suggestion you guys are giving is for those who own both a console and a powerful pc.... In case you are a sob like me who owns only a console then i believe oblivion is an amazing investment.

But if you have a choice, I think its always better to invest in a low cost PC version of the same game. And believe me, PC gaming is still shining....console gaming is good for racing and sports and to some extent 3rd person ! But games like Oblivion which can be tweaked and modded are always better on PC !

Yeah I have an Asus A8N-E motherboard which does support SLI but I would need another 7800 GTX for that... anyway, one card is still enough to run most of the current games on high resolutions with pretty much all settings maxed out. But I'm guessing all that will change when Crysis comes out... that game will need a native DirectX 10 card to run at it's full glory. Right now only the Geforce 8800 series officially supports DX10. I only got the 360 to play those games which are exclusive to the console like GOW, Saints Row, Crackdown, GTA IV etc. Most games do get ported to the PC but console ports pretty much always suck and it takes a looooooong time for them to arrive. I've been waiting forever for Resident Evil 4 and Halo 2 for the PC! RE4 will be released this month but the PC version already has a lot of negative reviews about the way it looks and controls... @invitcus: You're right, if you do not own a powerful gaming PC but own a 360 then Oblivion is a great investment. gtavint: Yes, PC gaming is starting to make a big comeback again. Especially this year when DX10 will be the new big thing in gaming. Microsoft is gonna be pushing Vista and it's new "Games For Windows" branding. I've always preferred PC gaming since it's a lot more flexible. I mean anyone who has played a FPS game on a PC and a console can tell which one is easier! The only downside is the $$$ you have to invest to keep up to date with the current hardware.

^^^you're gonna have to complete nocturnal's quest for the skeleton key. nocturnal is a daedra lord and for the quest you'll have to go to its shrine.
as for the shrine's location, it's somewhere near leyawiin(i think)
oh yeah, one more thing, i think you'll have to be at atleast level 10 to begin this quest.

^^you'll have to raise 10 skill levels in your major skills. increasing skill levels in minor skills will have no effect.
for example, if one of your major skills is 'hand-to-hand' combat, fight with your fists a lot(and i mean A LOT) to increase that skill and eventually your level.

using your major skills again n again helps raising the level... it would be helpful if u post what your major skills are...
like there are some which need u to be in combat like blade, blunt, destruction etc
but skills like conjuration, illusion, restoration, armourer, alteration can be increased even if u are not in combat..increasing these skills is a lot easier than the former.. i have posted a guide ...it might be helpful..
@ altair increasing minor skills has its effect during th level up is by having attibute modifier... eg if mercantile is your minor skill....and u have raised enough of it..then i next level up cycle u might be able to increase personality attribute(which governs mercantile) by higher degree then usual
