Real-time strategy games have had little success translating from PC to consoles in the past. EA is hoping to change this with the release of Comand & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars on the Xbox 360. The upcoming PC game is being retooled for the 360 with a unique control scheme that better fits an Xbox controller.
Set in 2047, the self-replicating alien substance Tiberium has infected the Earth and is quickly killing the planet. The Global Defense Initiative is trying to put a stop to it, but badass Kane from The Brotherhood of Nod (you know, east of Eden and all) has his own ideas about the future of our planet. The GDI and the Brotherhood are locked in an epic battle. Choose a side and determine the fate of the world.
"The Command & Conquer series finally makes its return to the console after seven years," said Mike Verdu, Executive Producer at EALA. "C&C 3 will help expand the RTS genre on the Xbox 360, building off of the foundation laid by the development of The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth II. EA is evolving the console controls so that strategy gaming plays and feels native to the platform."
"C&C 3 is a perfect fit for the Xbox 360," said Mike Glosecki, Senior Producer at EALA. "Xbox 360 players will enjoy the action-packed online play and watching the epic sci-fi story of the game unfolds as they play through the single player campaign."
The single-player story features live action video sequences starring numerous people you might consider famous. Tricia Helfer, Josh Holloway, Michael Ironside, Billy Dee Williams and Grace Park are among the actors who bring the Tiberium Wars to life.
C&C 3 also supports online play, allowing for massive battles over Xbox Live. Expect plenty of downloadable content on the Marketplace prior to and after C&C's 2007 release.
