Wonder why there's no thread on this - looks to be a cool PS3 exclusive and moreover its from one of Sony's longtime partner - R* !
L.A. Noire is an upcoming video game developed by Team Bondi and published by Rockstar Games for the PlayStation 3 L.A. Noire is set in "a perfectly re-created Los Angeles" of the late 1940s, with players being given an open-ended challenge to solve a series of murders. The postwar setting will include the noir necessity of corruption, as well as drugs and jazz themes. The game uses a distinctive noire colouring-style to strengthen the feeling from detective movies of the '40s.
Though little information has been disclosed so far about L.A. Noire, Rockstar has given a little impression of the game in the first trailer.[1] The "Noire" part of the name is a reference to the film noir genre, a style of black-and-white movie which was most popular from the 1940s to the 1950s.
Further, Brendan McNamara, Team Bondi's president, responded to an interview with Kristen Reed that "the project is wholly funded by Sony Computer Entertainment America. We have a long-term exclusive arrangement with SCEA."[2]
On September 25, 2006, an article on IGN which referenced Rockstar Games being named as the game's publisher, mentioned that "publisher representatives have made it a point to list L.A. Noire for 'next-generation consoles' and not solely the PS3"[3]. This contradicted Team Bondi's original intentions in 2005 where it was announced the game would be developed "specifically for the PlayStation 3".
On June 11, 2007, Take-Two Interactive, the sole corporation of Rockstar Games, re-confirmed exclusivity of this game to the PlayStation 3 with it's release date set for only that console in 2008, in a press release regarding the company's second quarter financial results. Just four days later this was again contradicted by a spokesperson for Take-Two Interactive, who stated "LA Noire is being developed for next-generation systems." (Note the plural 'systems', it was not confirmed which ones specifically).
