yea, if they allow divx support, then tht means we will be able to play all movies in it....rite frm .mpg to .avi, .divx, etc.... you are getting confused between multimedia container formats (ala .avi files) and codecs (XVID, DIVX or QuickTime for that matter which are iterations of the MPEG4 standard) V

for divx they need to pay ,but isnt xvid free?? yes, but how MS chooses to implement XVID support is another matter - the dash upgrade might simply allow you to stream XVIDs using a media center OS... V

not really arjun, it will be a step in the right direction as currently the only way to watch xvids is to 'on-the-fly transcode' them into WMVs (at a loss of resolution and quality) and watch them using a media center OS
