sequels arent a bad thing -- every developer/publisher working on an original IP hopes that their game gets accepted enough so that they can follow it up with a few more games (and a few enterprising studios factor this into the design document itself) BUT i have a problem when publishers look at popular franchises as cash cows and an easy way to make money by releasing episodic content -- i need some innovations to keep me interested. V Yeah but those mediocre sequels are turned down by gamer-gods just as any other title, no matter how big the original was. Capcom and Ubisoft have long since learned their lesson. They are consistent in their franchise so far and lets hope stay that way for next-gen. Many hyped PS3 titles are sequels to original PS1 games that made Sony king of consoles in the first place. And they can always innovate the series like RE4 and RB-Vegas.

you've forgotten mass effect and bioshock for the 360. I was talking about genre defining titles and their sequels that gamers wait for years. Very few exclusives on Xbox had fan-following like PS2 and same thing is happening all over again. Tell me one game you've been desperately waiting for months and months that's coming out next year only on 360 (other that Halo 3). dude, bioshock and mass effect ARE genre defining titles(going by what almost every game site is saying) bioshock was the game of e3 2006 check out these links if you need proof:- games.ign.com/articles/709/709355p7.htmlwww.gamespot.com/features/6151435/p-28.html

if you're pumped about the ps3's 2007 lineup purely because they are established gaming franchises then all the power to you.
i personally prefer to waste my restless anticipation on projects from strong & established dev studios with a penchant for bringing something new to the table with every release.

They better be da*n good 'cause 360 is gonna face some fierce competition next year and Halo alone won't be good enough. p.s. just saw interview of Jade Raymond about Assassin's Creed. She's d**n hot. By the way, she is also the producer .

its a case of evolution vs revolution. take motorstorm for eg, add off road vehicles+burnout crashes+hd facelift and you almost have a must buy title.
